"I really hate that I have to make this all up over break." I muttered, writing an essay for anatomy on all the ways fae are different from humans. Miranda was helping, filling in half the answers for all my homework and looking for notes for me in her binder.

"Well you shouldn'tve ran away so many times." She replied, filling in another answer for the endocrine and nervous systems worksheet.

"Well, you can't blame me. The first time I didn't even want to stay away for more than a couple hours. I think Devon used persuasion on me to stay....Holy Jesus, Amanda!" I exclaimed.

"Gahh! I swore I'd never come back, I said I wouldn't, I said I'd be her friend!" I stressed, pacing. In my mind, I searched for her, finding her  grumping by the river.

Without thinking, I centered in on her head and searched through to find the subconscious.

I'm so sorry! I completely forgot because found my friends at school when it was Christmas and I felt so guilty! I thought to her.

Fallon? What are you talking about? Alex.

Get out of my head, Alex! I told you to stay out!

Ah, it's alright, Fallon. I should've expected it. Plus, your friend is bothering you, so he must be nice.

Thank you person! Alex again.

Alex!!!!!

Bye, Fallon. See you whenever.

Bye.

I retracted from Amanda's head and found I was on the floor, splayed out. Miranda giggled at my confused face.

"You scared me for a moment there. Your eyes were all rolled back into your head and you fell to the floor twitching. Your face kept twisting every five seconds.

"Hey Fallon." I glared at Alex, sitting up.

"Did you ever learn how to follow directions!?" I asked, getting into my seat again.

"I was taken to jail for breaking Fae law in fifth grade. Don't ever ask me that question again." Alex said dramatically. I rolled my eyes.

"Woah, wait! What?" Lucas exclaimed, his face appearing from the other side of a bookshelf. "Aaron's a criminal? What'd you do?"

"No, Aaron King is not a criminal." I said slowly.

"Fallon!" Alex hissed.

"Alexander Keller is." Miranda finished for me.

"So you're that kid who tried to work around the law and teach Fallon your lessons through games?" Lucas asked. I was still working on Anatomy schoolwork.

"Yeaup." Alex said, flipping through the pages of a book.

"So Derrick is Devon?" Lucas continued his interrogation, looking for a good book as well. Miranda and I shared exasperated looks.

"Uh-huh."

"You guys actually went to jail just for some minorities done as children who only knew morals and not laws?" Lucas looked up from some girly book with flowers and hearts all over it.

"No. I went to federal prison for fighting back and accidentally using Dark Magic. I killed some cop's apprentice or kid who he brought along for bait or extra muscle. That's the burned-to-the-bone body they found." Alex said, looking for his own book.

"Can you two please shush?!" I exclaimed. They grinned at me.

"Nope!" The two replied cheerily.

I groaned and went back to my work as they talked about random stuff, why Devon went to jail, sneaking in jokes and only getting one important sentence into a conversation at a time.

"And Devon's pretty cool with the whole Dark magic now. He claims that we've already used the magic, and he's only going to use it for good purposes, so it doesn't matter." Alex said, flipping a page in a book he actually liked.

"But what about the whole against-the-law thing? Devon, despite everything, follows rules. It's funny. He's flirty and violent and has a tough skin, but he loves school and follows rules without hesitation, although he doesn't pester other people about it. You're quieter, more...sentimental, and you feel emotions viciously, very empa/sympa-thetic. And yet you hate to follow rules." Lucas commented, taking a seat next to me.

"Lady Miri, scootch over." Alex mumbled. Miranda nodded and obeyed.

"And he's demanding. You know what, they had a single personality when they were little. And I mean little little. Like, two. Alex was the flirty bad-boy who didn't follow the rules, and Devon was the sweet, shy one who liked order and was so softspoken. Everything happened and their personalities changed to what they are now. But they never lost their feelings about school and rules. Two personalities, broken and dispersed among two boys." I added.

"Hey, what's with the whole titles obsession you and Devon seem to have?" Lucas asked. I rolled my eyes as Alex beamed. He loved to tell the story.

"Well, when we were like, three, we watched Chronicles of Narnia and all those other corny medeival/renassiance-times movies. We made up a game in which Fallon was royalty and we were accomponying her in a journey across the great forest. But we had this huge fight over whether she was queen or princess. Finally, we decided that she was the unmarried heir to the throne after her mother, not really queen because she wasn't married, but more than just a princess. It was decided that I was a male heir to a throne in another kingdom, an arrogant 'King' who was out to charm the 'Queen' of that kingdom. Devon was the sweet Prince who discovered we all had powers. A year of him using his powers and he was taken away, but we didn't put the pieces together. So I taught Fallon through games, and when I found out about the law, about the dimensions, and that she still wasn't informed of anything, I tried to continue and teach Fallon. Devon's being dragged back here really changed us all." Alex explained.

"I'm convinced it's for the better." I stated, finishing another question on my homework.

"Eh." Lucas replied. I glared and he tapped the page I was working on.

"You've still got a packet of genetics and the reproductive system to finish after that, and it's a thick one. I suggest you get to work Ms. Clearse." He reminded. I stuck my tongue out at him and continued my work.
