"The We-when-weno..wenok-eeoh is an anti-poison." I recited, stuttering at the difficult words. I had gotten used to the taunting words about how I didn't know anything and how I was so stupid for stumbling with their native language.

"Very nice, Fallon. Correct. Sarah? What is the Bummeqix?" Mr. Stevens asked. I sat down and skimmed over the notes I had.

"The Bummeqix is a special hybrid plant of the Zaquiera and the cactus, Burremex. It works like the Zaquiera portal, but does not change the being using the portal into another creature, and while it does not hold the healing power or the spiritual power of the Burremex, it is not lethal like the Zaquiera." Sarah answered clearly. She was a huge teacher's pet. I sat at my desk, going over those notes over and over and over again.

When the class was over, Mr. Stevens kept us for a little bit.

"Remember to stay on your toes, class. Today is April Fools." He started chuckling maliciously. Or mock-maliciously, just to clarify that he was not a bad guy.

I smiled evilly and walked out of class with my bag of tricks. Oh, I remembered it was April Fools, I was just going to wait until the very right moment for everyone's pranks.

"Hey Fallon, I hear you're good at Quolon. Want to tutor me?" Someone taunted. I rolled my eyes and waited for the laughter to subside. "April Fools!" They yelled. I spun on my heel and punched the air beside their face.

"Next time I won't be so nice." I growled before stalking away. I swear, these kids are ridiculous.

"Why do you insist on not entering people's minds?" Devon asked as we made our way to my locker.

"Extra work. So not me." I replied, shaking my head and pulling out my binders and folders.

"You're a lazy bum." He commented. I raised an eyebrow at him. He grinned sheepishly. "April Fools?" I shook my head ad just walked away...again.

"Not even worth it." I sighed.

"Hey Queen." Alex greeted, joining me on our way to Anatomy. What was really awkward was the fact that I had that class with all the guys I knew personally, and not just from meeting them there.

"Hey Sir Keller." I replied, smiling up at him. He gave me a reprimanding look.

"Sir Killer." I repeated, my smile never leaving. He sighed.

"You're so stubborn sometimes." I grinned wider.

"I know. So what do you want for your birthday?" I asked. He looked shocked for a moment before recovering.

"Wow. I forgot I had one...what do I want?" I nearly burst from my giggles.

"You're such an idiot." He glared.

"What, you''re not going to get me a present?" I shook my head and he started to speed up but I held him back.

"I will when the time comes, but you're birthday isn't for another month genius. I can't believe you forgot!" I laughed. Alex looked to the floor, blushing.

"With all the stuff that's been happening, I bet you forgot too." He shot at me. I shook my head.

"Sort of hard to forget. You 'died' on my birthday. What a wonderful present you got me." I joked, but then remembered the anger, the hurt, the confusion of the last day of school, the day Alex was taken. "That's why I remember my birthday. Last day of school and such, but I remember it for being the anniversary for your death. There was no shrine or memorial or grave, just the fact that you died and the friends you left behind. Even after your bedroom started to haunt me more than help me, I went and stayed over for that night, then went back in the morning." I whispered, memories of the sad times filling up my head.
