After the wedding reception me and Kitty walk hand-in-hand back to our apartment after leaving her parents in the car. "I should've never of worn this stupid dress." Kitty lightly laughs as I shake my head. "You made your statement about hating your sister-in-law public. What you did took guts. At least everyone knows that Alice is a bitch and treats you unfairly." Kitty shakes her head as she opens the door with the key card. She looks stressed...more than stressed. Today was big, "want a tea?" I ask parting ways and going straight into the kitchen area. "Go on then!" She shouts taking off her earrings before gently placing the small silver sharp objects on the mantelpiece.

That's when my phone in my pocket vibrates. It's only a quick vibration...must be a text or something. I put the kettle on and take out two mugs, I plop the tea bags in and get the milk out of the fridge. While waiting for the kettle to boil I might as well have a look at my phone.

Expecting to see the top up number telling me I have to top up before the end of the month I see something much worse — a notification from Syd. Of course I open it up and stare at this incredibly long message.

Syd; I know we aren't talking anymore. That's wicked. I don't care. HOWEVER mum cares. Both her and dad want you to take a gap year off. You can bring that bird you live with home if needs be. I get that you're a boyfriend now (or whatever you are) and you work in a fucking coffee shop. I get that's a big deal but we need you here. We've been so distant lately and I'm super super sad. I cried in school the other day and the teacher asked why and I said because my big brother hates me. She tried ringing you on my phone and then on her phone but you wouldn't pick up. That's proof that you do. Don't deny it. Please just do the right thing Dan, come home for the year and...fuck off next year or whenever! It's not like you're the star student. Please please PLEASE think about it. I love you

With that I put my hand on my head and think about how to tell her no. "What's the matter?" Kitty asks as she hugs into the kitchen door. I look up and smile through...whatever emotion this is. "My little sister, that's the matter." Before she can ask 'why the fuck are you on about' I hand her my phone without her asking. Kitty takes it off of me and laughs a few seconds later. "I love the British-ness of that first bit, 'the bird'. Classic." I mean at least she doesn't point out the fact that my family thinks I'm in a relationship with her.

"Aw Dan...this is sad" Kitty looks up from the text for a moment. I don't think she's quite done with reading. "What's the verdict? Should I stay or should I go?" I crack a smile to myself as I think about that song from The Clash. "You should definitely go. That's what I think!" With that she passes the phone back to me with a reassuring smile. "But you..." my voice trails off. "I'll come. I've always wanted to go to London." I crack a nervous laugh.

Did Kitty just invite herself to London with me...for gap year? I was going to save my gap year and go next year...I want to go across the globe like every other cliché student. It sounds appealing. I want to go to India more than anywhere...but I don't think I ever will.

"Are you being serious?" I feel myself getting excited. Tiredly Kitty nods her head as I more or less hug her tightly. I don't care about the gap year thing...I just needed an excuse to hold her in my arms. Kitty needs a long hug after today.

I swear to god if I wasn't with Kitty, Alice would've definitely punched Kitty. That Alice bird has this real shitty mean streak. I'm glad Kitty showed everyone the real Alice. The next thing I'm hoping is that Hunter gets a fucking divorce. He seems like a nice guy.

"Yeah! I love England. Honest." I crack a laugh as I pull away before the hug gets a bit weird. We then proceed to laugh off of each other's nervous laughs for the next second before the kettle clicks after it boils. "You...go to bed...you look..." before I can say anything that I'll regret, Kitty does this half smile and nods her head. "I'll bring it in...in a bit." With that she hugs me once more before walking lifelessly out of the kitchen.

I'm just glad that all this wedding shit is over for good.
