— Thanksgiving —

"There's something so fucking satisfying watching Airplane! On a airplane." Kitty whispers as she puts her head on my shoulder watching the film on her tiny movie screen. "I love this bit." I whisper knowing what line is coming up without listening to it. I mean I am listening to something...but it's not Airplane! The film I'm watching on my own screen is this...weird sci-fi shite. I didn't know Airplane! was a choice. Otherwise I'd be watching the shit out of it.

"Don't call me Shirley" I whisper in time with the old guy a Kitty cracks a quiet laugh considering it's still pretty early. We took the overnight flight but it looks like the both of us is going to get jet flight.

Kitty is also doing pretty well considering it's her first time flying. I'm proud of her.

"You should tweet that." I nod my head. "With or without context though, that is the question?" Kitty looks up at me, her large blue eyes focused on mine. "Just don't call me Shirley." I nod my head and get my phone out of my pocket. I don't have that many followers on Twitter...and the followers I do have will probably presume I'm hungover again. No one who follows me probably has ever heard of that movie anyway!

I show Kitty of the tweet as proof. With that she smiles looking completely satisfied. "I hate you" I joke as she holds her middle finger up. Quietly we both laugh, only to be cut off by an announcement by the pilot telling us that we're going to have some turbulence whilst landing because of a thunderstorm or something. Fucking typical of the UK.

"London's way of saying 'hi'." I whisper in Kitty's ear as she looks extremely nervous.

"Where did your parents say we're going to meet them?" Kitty asks as she drags her two massive suitcases behind her. I nod my head, since that's the only thing I have got going free right now, towards the airports doors. "In the parking space, next to the cafe." With that she nods her head and cheerily smiles.

"I'm in England!" She shouts looking more than excited. "Do you guys celebrate Thanksgiving?!" She then proceeds to shout looking happy and curious. I know today this thanksgiving...of which I completely forgot about...

Fuck.

"We don't, but my parents are cooking up a Thanksgiving meal for us all. I mean it's going to taste like nothing from home or whatever-" with that Kitty who walks more or less into me laughs. "Don't knock it until you've tried it." Jesus Christ. She's been hanging out with me for way too long. "Seriously?" I smile as she shrugs her shoulders back. "Am I a British citizen yet?" With that I shake my head totally disbelieved by Kitty.

I don't deserve to be friends with her. I mean...she's too good for me.

Someone holds open the door for us and we rush towards it looking like complete knobs. Once out of the door we stand to one side so we don't get in everyone's way and take a moment to figure out what and where we are going to next to wait for my family. "Should we save them a car journey and get a taxi?" I know miss moneybags can afford it...but I want my parents to meet Kitty in a rush so they spend less time judging her or whatever.

I'm not sure how they would react. The last friend I brought home from school was this guy who used me, but hopefully his time it'll be less awkward. I mean she's a girl...not that it matters or anything.

"They're on their wa-" before I can even end the sentence I see my dad's car pulling up in the pick up stop zone. Here goes nothing.

"That's them" I point at their black car after letting go of my suitcase handle for a split second. "Ohmygod." Kitty mumbles under her breath. Her whole face is pale with nerves...that or she's forgotten to take her groundbreaking medicine. I should remind her just in case if she forgot, I don't want her missing out on this crappy Thanksgiving dinner copy that she's been genuinely hyped for like a Lana song or something.

Since they can't get out of the car to meet us probably me and Kitty run around the back of the car as dad from inside automatically opens the boot. "Hello!" Kitty waves at the three mildly pissed off faces. However within seconds of seeing Kitty my mum's eyes light up like a Christmas tree. "Hello!" She shouts from the front. Knowing that these people are friendly Kitty looks at me as if she wants to go and talk to my mum. "Give me that." I laugh taking one of her suitcases off of her and putting it into the boot next to mine. I then put the other one on top. It's a fight squeeze but they all get in there.

That's when I close the boot and get into the car besides Syd. She doesn't say anything, my parents are way too wrapped up in conversation with Kitty to notice me. But Syd notices. She looks away while I buckle myself in. Without words I put my arm around her shoulder and hug her.

I've been the worlds worst brother. I know that now.
