I know there's been loads of British transfer students recently...but I didn't know there was that many. Apparently a shit load of Zadie Smith books got shipped to the university for the transfer students to learn. Especially those transfer students like me who are going to go back to London when university is over — I guess they want to teach us what we would've learned back home.

Everyone moved to America because they gave away free university programs to everyone in Britain out of pity because our uni prices have dramatically risen. I guess Mrs President isn't that bad after all. I mean...not that she's ever been bad or anything. She is saving my parents thousands every month.

The book the British students are reading is White Teeth. In this day and age it's incredibly risky to other cultures, but it has a meaning and a purpose. It's everything a book should be. Therefore the author, Zadie, is a living genius! "Psst" someone whispers besides me. I don't look, it's probably some dickhead wanting a pen that they'll never give back. "Dan" my eyes widen when I realise that the 'annoying dickhead who is probably asking for a pen'...is only fucking Kitty Holland!

"Huh?" I mumble under my breath as the professor stops talking for a second and glances our way. Of course she looks mildly pissed off with her piercing emerald eyes focused on mine, however she doesn't say anything and resumes to click on the next page of her long and boring presentation.

I look at Mitty after a minute or who. She's on her phone. Thinking that she's forgotten about what she was going to say to me, I continue to note down random song lyrics — of course I know that I'll never get to sing them or whatever but my brain is on an overload at the moment. Mythology on the mind is probably a weird thing to admit out loud...so why not write lyrics about it?

Seconds after trying to figure out what the ferryman of Hades is called and how he rode people to and from the afterlife across the river Styx...my mind wanders off completely. Charon and his boat across hell has always interested me, how lost souls pay the boat to take them to hell...sounds weird. I still can't believe that out of any story has been implanted in my mind.

That's when all of a sudden my phone weirdly vibrates, I glance down quickly to see an airdrop request notification on my iPhone with a gif. I've never seen this feature before...well I have to know it's AirDrop, but no one has sent me one before. How exciting.

I smile as I look up at her. No guy cannot resist a smile whilst looking at her. She is so pretty...not to mention her smile is infectious. "What do you need help with?" I whisper while the professor heads back over to her brown wooden desk in the corner of the lecture room.

Kitty then goes on her phone again as I roll my eyes. I wouldn't have her as the type of girl to go against the teachers rules. But I like that. I mean...I like her also because she isn't the only girl in the world who isn't scared to speak to me. It's surprising who every other as a human being is disgusted by me. I swear my deodorant must be a repellent of sorts?! All of the other girls try to avoid me. I mean, I'm nothing like the computer geeks or whatever they decide to label themselves. I try to be sociable and stuff.

But I feel like everybody hates me.

I crack a smile and shake my head as finally Kitty puts down her phone. She too looks quite pleased of her reaction gif finding skills. "The American version of The Office is a huge offence by the way." I only know of the first gif she sent because of the 'oh god no' memes.

Kitty looks totally offended. I doubt she's seen the British version, Kitty Holland is as American as they come. Her brother is a solider, her mother is a picture perfect housewife and her father was born and raised as a farmer but now is a wealthy businessman. I only know these facts from the Atlas app, Kitty is a very open and proud person.

"Excuse me for trying to be funny." With that the bell rings as everyone stands up. It must be lunch now? I mean...hopefully. I grab my backpack from off the floor and swing it around my back. I turn to look at Kitty but see that she's still sat down looking at her blank Microsoft Word document. Aw...

"You weren't lying." I kind of make a shitty joke. Kitty smiles but a sort of a sad smile. "Your book seems so simple to...whatever this book is." The American students are studying whatever book they choose. I mean it has to be a detailed book, preferably a classic. Plus, they have to have different writing techniques and all that bullshit.

"You chose it though...right?" With that she smiles brushing her long dark red hair behind her ears. "Yeah. But that's besides the point, it's a hard book to work with. They're just three addicts." I mean a guy like me probably won't pick up a book called 'Valley of The Dolls' but it seems interesting. "Does anyone die?" I point to the face down book.

Kitty nods her head slightly. "Write about it. How you viewed the death, research how others did and intertwine them into a lengthy paragraph filled with long tedious words and perfect punctuation." Kitty cracks a smile. "I can't write a whole essay on the suicide of Jennifer North can I?" With that I shrug back my shoulders. If she uses the right phrases and gets quotes and realisable information....then possibly? It's only a free writing essay at the end of the day. It's the least concerning one. "Especially since the woman who portrayed her was Charles Manson's most famous victim." Sharon Stone. Fuck I did not know that.

"Don't mention the film then...it might be easier to write about then?" Kitty nods her head as I put my bag down and sit back down next to her. "Aren't you going to have lunch?" She asks as I shake my head. "Nah, I want to help you out. I got a high grade...last time." Kitty then smiles genuinely. She doesn't look or seem as nervous as she did before.

"Should I..." my voice trails off as I slightly pick the book up. I need to know the synopsis and the rough idea about the text. "Knock yourself out." Kitty smiles as she begins to type whilst I scan a few pages.

This is a perfect way to spend lunch.
