"KO, we shouldn't be doing this. What if we get caught?" Y/n asked.
"We won't! Sneaking past these robots is easy! Watch!" He grabbed her hand and walked right past the robots, thinking he was sneaking. They hid in a box as he passed by two Ernesto robots. "See? Easy!" He said.
"Maybe this is a trap..." Y/n mumbled.
"You really should listen to your little 'friend' more." A voice said. KO gasped and looked behind him. Lord Boxman sat at his desk, smiling. He pressed a button. They were scooped up by something, and metal bars held their wrists and legs down.
"Lord Boxman." KO squinted his eyes. "Let us go!"
"Why should I? You're the one who broke into my factory, trying to show your other friends that you were good. But why would they like you? You're just a silly bothersome child. Both of you are. Look how upset they are with you!" Lord Boxman said as he pressed another button. A screen appeared, and showed Enid and Rad waiting at the street. They looked upset. "See? They aren't happy with you. They're mad at you. They'll never want to be friends with annoying children like you two."
"You're lying! He's lying, right Y/n?" He turned to his friend. She looked upset. She took a deep breath and sighed.
"Just ignore him, KO. He showed us that Enid and Rad are on their way. Let's just wait for them." She said.
"Yes, wait for your pounding! I'll just be over here. Watching from the shadows. Like a total creep." He said as he backed away into the shadows, using blinds to hide behind.
"I should've listened to you, Y/n. We shouldn't have done this." KO said. Y/n smiled at him.
"It's okay. We're going to be fine, KO. It's not like this is the end of the world." She chuckled. "Also, I hate to say this, but... I told you so."
KO laughed slightly. He sighed and looked down.
"Yep, you did." He said.
Suddenly, the doors were kicked open. Enid threw down the robot she was holding. The two rushed towards the children. They were dropped from their traps onto the floor.
KO screwed his eyes shut, waiting to get yelled at. But instead, he was tackled by Rad. Enid picked up Y/n.
"You're okay! We were so worried! You just disappeared after we yelled at you, and we didn't know what happened!" Enid said as she squeezed Y/n.
"Yeah, we freaked out! We thought you had like, died, or something." Rad said as he held KO like a baby.
"Wait, so you're not mad?" KO asked.
"Mad? Why would we be mad?" Enid asked.
"Because we--" KO was going to explain, but got cut off.
"Snuck into Lord Boxman's lair all by yourselves? Yeah, that was pretty dumb, but it took serious guts." Rad said as the two put them down.
"I told you we'd be fine, KO." Y/n said. KO laughed slightly.
"Yeah. I guess you're always right, Y/n." He laughed. He turned to Enid and Rad. "So we're cool?" Enid and Rad looked at each other laughed slightly.
"Heck yeah, man. You got our respect." Rad said as he fist bumped KO.
"And our admiration." Enid added as she rubbed Y/n's head.
"But most of all," Enid and Rad both said as they scooped the children back up. "You have our friendship!"
"Really?! Oh, I'm so happy! Now I've got..." KO counted on his fingers for a second. "Three best friends! That's, like, a bunch!"
"Yep, it is." Enid laughed. "And we've got two new best friends."
"Really? Who are they?" KO asked, confused.
"You two, silly." Enid said.
Suddenly, a box closed around them, trapping them. Seconds later, it opened. Enid and Rad saw their boss, Mr. Gar approaching.
"Why aren't you two at your posts?!" He boomed.
"We were out saving these two, sir!" Enid answered as she gestured to the children.
"Oh. Okay. Well send them home and get back to work!" Mr. Gar ordered.
"Aw, can't we keep them?" Enid asked as she held KO close like a teddy bear.
"Yeah. They could help us clean the bathrooms." Rad said as he ruffled Y/n's hair even more.
"No! You two just need to quit slacking so much and do it yourself! And besides, a recommendation from the two of you means squat." Mr. Gar said as he began to walk away.
"What about a recommendation from me?" A familiar voice asked. Mr. Gar gasped, startled. His face turned red as he realized who it was. "Come on, Gar, just give him the job. Y/n, too. They never do anything without each other." Carol, KO's mother said.
Mr. Gar groaned, not wanting to say now. He huffed and turned to the four.
"Fine!" He grumbled. Carol placed a hand on his shoulder, causing him to tense up.
"Thanks, Gar!" She said. He quickly left, hoping nobody noticed him. "Congratulations, you two! I'll meet you at the car!" She blew KO a kiss and walked away.
"W-What just happened?" He stuttered.
"You two got the job!" Enid said. Rad handed the two blue vests. "We ran out of crop tops."
KO smiled and rubbed the cloth against his cheek. Y/n slipped her's on, it fitting comfortably.
"Yay! We did it!" He cheered as he pumped his fist into the air, obliviously shooting a power fist.
"Woah, KO, I didn't know you could do that..." Rad said.
"Do what?" KO asked, not even realizing what he did. Y/n just laughed.
"You're so silly, KO." She smiled.
Oof I feel like the ending to this chapter was kind of abrupt.
