Chapter Twenty

"C'mon, KO! You wanna get closer to her? You gotta do it!" Enid said.

"But what if she says no?" KO asked.

"There's no way she'll say no. Just ask her." Rad said.

"And what if it doesn't go well? What if she stops liking me?!" KO exclaimed.

"Dude, you're overthinking it. Just have some fun. Also win her heart over." Rad said.

"Yeah. Then you two will finally be a couple." Enid said.

"How am I supposed to ask her? Just walk up to her?" KO asked.

"Whatever you think is right." Rad said. "Now go do it!" He pointed away, ordering KO to go. KO nodded and turned to go find Y/n.

"We're gonna record him asking, right?" Enid asked.

"Duh." Rad said as he pulled out his phone.

KO found Y/n organizing things on a shelf. He walked up to her. She turned to him and smiled.

"Hey, KO. Watcha doing?" She asked.

"O-Oh. I was just gonna... Ask you a-a question..." He stuttered, his face red.

"Well what is it?" She asked. KO was silent for a moment. He let out a cough as his face turned a dark shade of red in embarrassment. "KO?" Y/n raised an eyebrow, unsure of what he was doing.

"W-Will you go on a... D-Date with me?" He stuttered. Y/n's eyes widened as her face turned a light pink.

"Oh... Uh... Sure... When is it?" She asked.

"Uh... Later on tonight?" KO said.

"Okay... Um... I've gotta go..." Y/n said. She turned and quickly walked away.

"That was really awkward." Rad said as he walked up to KO, Enid behind.

"Oh, she's weirded out by me! Now she'll never love me!" KO cried.

"Calm down, KO. She loves you. You're just not an experienced person at this kind of stuff." Enid said. KO sighed.

"I guess I'm just really nervous... I've never been on a date. What if I mess it up?" He said.

"You won't. For once, I think Rad is right. Just have some fun. Just act like this is what you do everyday together, and everything will go just fine." Enid said.

"Have you picked out a place to go to yet?" Rad asked.

"I was just gonna go to the park or something." KO said.

"What? No! Don't take her to the default children's date place! Take her somewhere she won't expect." Rad said.

"Like where?" KO asked.

"Uh... How about the arcade? Or her favorite restaurant?" Enid suggested.

"I don't know her favorite restaurant..." KO said.

"Seriously? You've been living together for years and you don't know her favorite restaurant?" Enid said.

"This is exactly why I'm going on a date with her! I'm trying to get to know her more!" KO said.

"You're also trying to get her to open up more about Y/t/n." Rad said.

"I know. But I want to know more about her than just that." KO said.

"Aw, how cute. KO wants to get to know his girlfriend better." Enid gushed.

"We're not dating yet." KO said.

"Dude, you're going on a date with her. I'm pretty sure that kind of makes you a couple." Rad said.

"Okay, KO. You should probably get to work for now. We'll help you get ready later on today." Enid said as she ruffled his hair. "C'mon, Rad. Let's go. It's lunch break."

"Coming. See you later, little dude." Rad said as he followed Enid. KO sighed and looked at floor.

"I hope this goes well." He said.

"Have you decided where to take her yet?" Rad asked.

"I was thinking just the arcade. It's the only place I can think of." KO said.

"Okay, that's fine. Have you decided a time?" Rad asked. KO shook his head.

"No, I was just gonna go later in tonight." KO said.

"Try taking her in the middle of the night. It'll be so unexpected. She'll love it." Rad said.

"That's a dumb idea, Rad." Enid said.

"No, it's not! It's an amazing idea!" Rad said.

"Um... Won't it be closed by then?" KO said.

"Oh, man, you're right. I'll fix that. A buddy of mine runs the arcade. I'll just get him to keep it open for you two." Rad said.

"KO, you're not actually gonna take her in the middle of the night, are you?" Enid asked.

"It won't be midnight! Probably just ten o' clock. That's when everybody leaves. Dates are better when you're all alone." Rad said.

"Uh... Okay. Ten it is. Can I just where normal clothes?" KO asked.

"Sure. Wear whatever. You're going to an arcade, not a fancy restaurant." Rad said.

"Okay. I think that's it." KO said.

"Yep! Don't screw it up now, KO! Or else she may never like you again." Rad said. KO gasped.

"I knew it!" He exclaimed.

"That is not helping him, Rad." Enid said as she punched his shoulder. "Just have fun, KO. You've always been best friends. You're just taking it to the next level now. It'll all be okay. It'll be like a play date."

"Okay..." KO said.

"Don't say anything about when it where it is, though! Surprise her! Girls love that!" Rad said.

"Not all girls like surprises." Enid said.

"Whatever. You're just weird." Rad said. Enid gasped.

"I am not! You're the weird one!" She shouted. The two began bickering.

KO saw his mom come in through the door. She looked at him and smiled. She waved at him. He walked over to her.

"Hey, KO! How was work?" She asked as she picked him up.

"It was good. Uh... Y/n and I are going on a date..." KO said. Carol gasped as she smiled widely.

"Oh, I knew a day like this would come, when my KO got with Y/n! I'm so happy for you! When is it?!" She exclaimed happily as she swung him around.

"Later on tonight when the arcade closes. Rad suggested I go when everybody leaves so it'll be just us." KO said.

"That's a great idea. I'm so happy for you!" She said as she squeezed him in a hug.

"Thanks, mommy." KO said as he hugged her back. "Is it time to go?"

"Yep, it is. You go get in the car, I'm gonna go get Y/n." Carol said as she put him down. KO nodded and walked outside.

He thought about what the date would be like. He was nervous, but excited at the same time. He would finally get closer to Y/n, and they would be a couple. He was happy, but scared that it wouldn't go well.

He opened the car door and sat down in his seat.

"It'll be fine." He mumbled to himself. "Just have fun."
