"Get ready to get a pounding, you losers!" Darrel said as he charged at KO.
"Power fist!" KO shouted, attempting to shoot a power fist. Nothing happened. Darrel punched KO, sending him into the air. Rad caught him with his powers.
"Need a hand, kiddo?" Rad said with a grin on his face. He lowered KO to the ground.
"Rad! You're--" KO was about to say something, but Rad finished for him.
"I know, I know. I'm your knight in shining arm. The best of the best. The biceps, the triceps." He smirked. Enid ran past them, Y/n not far behind.
"You guys are missing out! Y/n's faster than you, Rad!" Enid said as they fought Darrel. Rad sighed and set KO down on his hair.
"Alright, alright. Yeesh." Rad said as he floated over to them.
Enid, Rad and Y/n finished off Darrel, winning the fight. KO was deep in his own thoughts though.
"How can I even call myself a hero when I can't even shoot a power fist?" He mumbled to himself.
"Hey, power's not everything. You've got your own qualities. Like being cute. At least you're cute!" Enid smiled at him.
"Power takes time, KO. I wasn't always this powerful. Oh wait. Yeah, I was. Don't worry, you'll catch up with us someday. Or not." Rad said. Y/n elbowed him.
"That's not helping." She said.
"Good work, employees! I shall now compliment your work one by one!" Mr. Gar said. "Enid, good coordination as always. Rad, good job saving that small child with your finger beam. Y/n, great job decapitating Darrel with your lightning. And KO, uh... Good hustle. Now get this mess cleaned up." Mr. Gar said as he handed KO a broom.
"Oh..." KO frowned as he looked at the broom.
"All right, team! Break!" Mr. Gar said. Enid and Rad walked away. KO stayed to sweep, and Y/n stayed to work with him.
"You okay, KO?" Y/n asked. He sighed.
"Yeah... Can I have some time alone?" He asked. Y/n's eyes widened in surprise. He never asked for her to leave.
"Oh... Okay. I'll be inside if you need me..." She said. She turned and walked away. KO breathed in heavily and sighed.
Y/n walked inside and saw Enid sleeping on the counter, and Rad sleeping in a box again. She walked into the break room and sat down in a chair. She closed her eyes, resting them, trying to take her mind off why KO would make her go away.
~~~
Y/n had accidentally fallen asleep, but was awoken to the sound of a loud thud. She jumped up and ran outside to see Enid and Rad standing in front of Darrel.
"This time I'm ready!" Darrel said as his form began to change. It grew into a large robot, capable of destroying all three of them in one punch. "Pretty impressive, huh? Lucky for me, though, I don't even need to pull punches. Once this cannon charges up and blasts, your precious plaza will be obliterated!" Darrel said as a cannon at the center of his chest began to power up.
"Uh, Enid, I think we may need to get some help for this one..." Rad said.
"We stay and fight." Enid said.
"Uh, that's another joke, right?" Rad asked.
"We won't make it back in time. We have to stay." Enid said as she raised her fists. Rad sighed.
"All right." He said, readying his powers.
"This is it, Lakewood losers! Get ready to d--" Darrel was cut off by something cutting clean through him. He exploded, sending debris everywhere. Rad, Enid and Y/n gasped as they looked.
KO stood at the center, except something was different. His hair was down, and his form had changed slightly.
The three approached him. KO looked up at them. Y/n instantly knew something was different besides his looks. She was suspicious, especially after what had happened in the fear game.
"Dude! That was amazing!" Rad exclaimed.
"That's putting it lightly. How did you do that, KO?" Enid asked.
"No! Not KO. Turbo KO. Tko for short." He said. Y/n's skin turned pale.
"T-Turbo?" She stuttered. He looked at her.
"Yeah. Why? You scared?" He smirked. She furrowed her eyebrows and frowned.
"No. Just... Concerned..." She said.
"There's nothing to be 'concerned' about." He rolled his eyes and walked away.
"Is he serious?" Enid mumbled. Tko turned to them, smiling.
"Hah. You have no idea." He smiled.
~~~
The next day, Y/n hadn't said a word to Tko at all. She had something on her mind that occupied her from talking to anyone.
They were on their way to work. The silence was awkward.
"So, KO, I know you got this dark and edgy thing going on, and I think that's fun, but would you happen to know where my eye liner went?" Carol asked nervously. Tko knew where it was at. He was wearing it. He groaned.
"I don't feel like talking right now..." He said. He pushed a button on the radio, turning on the rock station. Carol sighed and turned it down.
They pulled into the parking lot. The vehicle came to a stop, and they got out. They got out of the vehicle, Carol bidding the two goodbye.
As they made their way towards the store, Tko spoke up.
"Y/n?" He called. She jumped, startled. She was still deep in her thoughts.
"Yes?" She turned to him.
"You've been really quiet. Usually, you're really talkative with KO. Did I scare you?" He asked, getting a smug grin at the end.
"No, I just... Didn't know KO had a turbo form..." She looked at the ground.
"Do you know what a turbo form is?" He asked, stopping. She sighed.
"Maybe." She mumbled. "I... I learned about it in school."
"Well... Then you know I'm not exactly KO, right?" He asked. She nodded.
"You and KO have separate consciences. You just live inside his mind." Y/n said. Tko nodded.
"Then you understand. Good. Come on, I wanna hurry up and get this over with." Tko said. Y/n nodded and followed him inside.
Tko put on his headphones, listening to music as he worked. Y/n sat down on a bench, resuming her thoughts.
There was something she knew, something she was scared of. And she didn't know if Tko would like it or not.
