Chapter Eighteen

"Emergency Bodega meeting! Enid, Rad, Y/n, KO! Front and center!" Mr. Gar called. The four walked over to him.

"What's up, Mr. G?" Enid asked.

"Bad news, kids. We've got a plaza creeper." He said.

"Plaza... Creeper?" KO repeated, confused.

"Yes. Security footage has caught someone sneaking into the plaza on multiple occasions." Mr. Gar said as he showed them holographic footage of a man going into an underground tunnel by the plaza. KO gasped.

"I know him! That's Shadowy Figure, the guy who made tricked me into unleashing Tko!"  KO said.

"Uh, yeah. We know." Rad said.

"Oh. Well we need to catch him!" KO said.

"No! We wait. He's clearly up to something. We need to gather information before attacking. Rad, Enid!" Mr. Gar pointed to them. "Stay alert and watch for any suspicious customers. And as for me, I'm going on a stake out."

"Mr. Gar? Can Y/n and I come with you?" KO asked.

"I never said I wanted to go." Y/n said.

"No." Mr. Gar said. KO pouted. "I-I mean, kids 12 and under have to have parent's permission."

"Oh. Mommy, can I go with Mr. Gar on a stakes out?" KO asked his mother, who just so happened to be shopping.

"Sure you can!" Carol said.

"O-Oh. Well Y/n doesn't have permission and you two do everything together so no can do, KO!" Mr. Gar said.

"Y/n doesn't have parents." KO said. Mr. Gar sighed.

"Okay, you two can come. But you have to be quiet." Mr. Gar said.

The three made their way onto the roof of the plaza. Y/n looked over the edge.

"He's going over there, right?" She asked as she pointed to the tunnel.

"Yes. I'm going to keep a sharp lookout. You two just sit, be quiet, and do everything I do." Mr. Gar said. Y/n nodded and sat down on the ground, while KO began setting something up. Mr. Gar raised an eyebrow and looked back at him, and noticed he set up a whole camp. "KO! This is a stakeout, not a camp out!" Mr. Gar said.

"Oh. Well I brought this stake." KO said as he held up a stake.

"That would make it a cook out!" Mr. Gar said.

"Oh." KO said. He pushed his stuff away and sat down next to Y/n.

"Now be quiet and do exactly what I do." Mr. Gar said. KO nodded and used his hands as binoculars. They watched for Shadowy Figure.

KO got bored and began asking Mr. Gar lots of questions, in the end getting yelled at.

"Does your mouth never stop moving?!" Mr. Gar exclaimed.

"Oh... Sorry. I just don't have a big guy to ask all these questions. I can only imagine how Y/n feels." KO said.

"Stop bringing it up, KO." Y/n said, not taking her eyes off the tunnel. Mr. Gar sighed.

"I'm sorry I yelled at you, KO. I'm just not used to a kid asking me all these questions." Mr. Gar said. KO sighed. "You can... You can ask me one question."

"Really?! Okay! Uh... You were apart of that team, P.O.I.N.T, why did you leave?" He asked. Mr. Gar sighed and stood up.

"You said something about life advice? No matter how hard you try, you're gonna screw it up in the end." He said.
