Y/n and KO were walking to work after school. KO was singing, while Y/n was reading.
They suddenly heard a rustle in the bushes. KO looked around, but didn't see anyone.
"C'mon, KO, it's just the wind." Y/n said, not taking her eyes off the book.
"No, I think someone's there." He whispered, not wanting the person to hear him. "All right, whoever you are! Show yourself before I use my special 'secret person special power move' on you!"
"KO, it's nothing. C'mon." Y/n said as she turned and began walking away. KO turned to follow her, but instead was startled by someone. He fell over.
"Finally." The voice said. "I thought you were never going to stop singing and talking to yourself."
Y/n turned to them. There was a girl dressed in a yellow jumpsuit, blue boots, and blue glasses. She had on a book bag that was a darker shade of blue. Y/n approached KO and helped him up.
"Who are you?" Y/n asked.
"I am Dendy. I sit behind you two in class. I notice how things that would bother most people have little to no affect on you two. An example: one time the bus broke down on our field trip to the zoo. Everyone was unsettled except for you, KO, who was just excited to see a tow truck in action." She explained.
"Uh, yeah, because tow trucks are the most heroic vehicle of all!" KO said.
"Precisely." Dendy said. "You are training to become a hero. That is why you are so willing to help people and see people get help. Even if the people have no friends. To get right to it, KO, I need your help."
KO gasped. He smiled widely and turned to Y/n. She raised an eyebrow.
"KO, I'm just gonna go to work. I'll see you later." Y/n said as she began to walk away. KO grabbed her hand.
"Aw, c'mon, don't you wanna help?" KO asked. He gave her puppy eyes. She sighed.
"Okay. What it is you need help with?" She asked Dendy.
"I need help with... Repairing something..." She pulled off her book bag. "My machine needs three things in order to function properly. First, I need a robotic dilation circuit." She said as she showed a hologram of one in her hand.
"Well, we don't know much about all that robot-y stuff. But I bet Mr. Logic will!" KO said.
~~~
"I don't know anything about what you're looking for." Mr. Logic said. "I left all that robot stuff behind when I opened up my salon."
"Man..." KO pouted.
"I'm sorry. How about I make it up to you with three mathematically perfect hair cuts?" Mr. Logic said. KO smiled and raised his eyebrows at Dendy. She sighed.
After giving them their haircuts, KO looked into a mirror. He smiled.
"Hey, Mr. Logic, mind giving the neck hairs a trim?" KO asked.
"With pleasure." Mr. Logic smiled as he pulled out some trimmers. "My grandfather gave these to me." He said as he explained their origins. Dendy gasped as she scanned the trimmers.
She snatched it out of his hand and threw it in the ground, breaking it. KO and Y/n gasped.
"Dendy!" KO exclaimed as they ran over to her. Dendy grabbed a piece of the machine.
"I have procured our first part." Dendy said as she held up a small piece.
"Yeah, but you broke Mr. Logic's trimmers. He said they were a family heirloom." KO said. Dendy frowned and looked at the broken trimmers.
"Ah, yes." She said as she quickly put it back together and gave it back to Mr. Logic. "You'll find it works 200% better than before." Dendy said to Mr. Logic as they walked outside.
They went to an arcade next, searching for the next item. Dendy needed a coin for her machine.
"A token machine?" Dendy asked.
"Yep! It should have what you need! We need a techno to put in..." He said as he searched his pockets for one, unsuccessfully finding one. Dendy went behind the machine and went to work on it.
"Hey, KO?" Y/n turned to KO, her voice low so Dendy wouldn't hear.
"Yeah?" He faced her.
"Are you sure we should be helping Dendy? She seems... Kinda... I don't know... Mean?" Y/n said. KO scoffed.
"Psh, Dendy's not mean! She's just different." KO said. He frowned. "Are you okay, Y/n? You've been acting strange over the last two weeks. You've been mean to Enid and Rad, just now warming up to them, and now you're suspicious of Dendy. Are you sure you're fine?"
"Of course I am. I just don't trust everyone immediately like you do. Some people aren't good. You shouldn't suddenly like someone. What if it's a trick?" Y/n said.
"Why would Dendy trick us? We're just helping her fix her machine." KO said. Y/n sighed.
"Okay..." She mumbled, looking away.
"Now, we just have to--" KO was cut off as the machine shook, and coins came pouring out. "Woah! Guess we didn't need a techno after all."
"These should do the job." Dendy said as she grabbed one.
"Wow. You're always one step ahead of people, aren't you?" KO said.
"Yes, I do walk quickly." Dendy said.
"No, no, no. I mean, you do things in your own way. It's kind of weird, but it's also... Kind of cool." KO said. Hearing this made Y/n frown. She always got upset over this kind of stuff because she didn't want KO to stop hanging out with her. He was her only friend. Heck, he and Carol were probably all she had.
"Hey, KO, I'm gonna leave. I think you've got this from here." Y/n said, not looking back at him.
"Why are you leaving so early? Don't you wanna help?" KO asked.
"Uh... I don't feel so good. I'll see you later KO." Y/n said as she left.
"Hm... I wonder what's gotten into her..." KO mumbled.
"We should be leaving. We still have one more thing to collect." Dendy said. KO sighed.
"Okay. Let's go." He said. He looked outside at Y/n one last time before following Dendy, off to find the last part.
