Chapter Seventeen

After KO and Dendy's mission to help Kappas get POW Cards, they returned later to see the sun setting. Y/n was mopping the floors, her headphones on. Enid and Rad were napping in the break room.

"Hey, Y/n!" KO called to her as he approached her, Dendy behind. Y/n looked at them and smiled, pulling off her headphones.

"Hey, KO! Hey, Dendy, was it?" She waved at them. Dendy nodded.

"Correct." Dendy said.

"So, Y/n, Dendy and I were on a cool mission today to help Kappas get POW Cards, and now Dendy has one!" KO said as Dendy showed her POW Card.

"Nice." Y/n smiled.

"Y/n, I've been wondering," Dendy began as she placed her POW Card back into her book bag. "I've never seen you fight, bring up POW Cards, or even worry about training. Are you not planning on becoming a hero?"

"I am. But I don't have a POW Card. But I know I'm strong since I have..." Y/n frowned as she trailed off. KO's eyes widened in realization.

"O-Oh. Right. I forgot about that." He said as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. Dendy raised an eyebrow, confused.

"What is it?" She asked.

"You know how I have a turbo form?" KO asked. Dendy nodded. "Well..."

Dendy gasped. "You have one, too?" Y/n nodded. "How long have you had it?"

"Um... Most of my life..." Y/n muttered.

"Most of your life? Dang, that's a long time. How come you never told me?" KO asked.

"I just didn't want anyone to know. She's too scary. I just use her powers." Y/n.

"Tko's not scary... Okay, he's a little scary, but I'm sure turbo Y/n isn't that bad! After all, she's part of you. And you're super sweet." KO said as he wrapped his arm around Y/n's shoulders.

"You haven't met Y/t/n. She's very toxic and evil. Tko may be dark, but he's not a psychotic demon bent on revenge and out to kill anyone who tries to stop her." Y/n said. KO's arm dropped as he frowned.

"Wow, that is pretty messed up." He said.

"That's exactly why I didn't want anyone to know. They would say things like that, and then see me a different." Y/n said as she looked down.

"Well we still see you as the sweet girl everyone loves. Nothing will change that, not even Y/t/n." KO said.

"You don't know that..." Y/n said.

"I'm sure of it. I love you, and nothing's gonna change that." KO said as he grinned, wrapping his arm back around her.

"Y/n, if you have a turbo form, where did she come from?" Dendy asked. Y/n's eyes grew wide.

"U-Uh... I..." She began stuttering. Her voice suddenly cracked. "I don't know. I don't know much about myself to be honest."

"You... Don't?" KO asked. Y/n shook her head.

"I-I... I don't even know who my parents are..." She mumbled as she looked down, feeling hot tears at the corner of her eyes. "I never met them. I don't know if they know about Y/t/n. I don't know who made Y/t/n, or why she was made. I don't know anything about my past."

"That's... That's terrible, Y/n! Why didn't you tell me! This is very important! We need to find them!" KO said.

"Maybe we'll find out who Y/t/n's creator is as well." Dendy said.

"N-No! I don't want to find them. They wouldn't have given me up if they really wanted me." Y/n said.

"Oh... So you don't want to meet them?" KO asked. Y/n sighed.

"It's complicated, KO. I want to know them, but I don't care for them. They left me. I don't need them." Y/n said. KO nodded.

"Well... Do you at least want a POW Card?" He asked as he smiled smiled weakly.

"I'd rather not know just how strong Y/t/n is." Y/n said as she turned and walked away.

"Guess Y/n doesn't like talking about that kind of stuff..." KO said.

"Maybe she's just not ready yet." Dendy said.

"She should be! We both have turbo forms! We're both friends! We both don't have a dad! She should be okay with talking to me..." KO said.

"Maybe she doesn't trust you to the full extent." Dendy said.

"What? Yes she does. We're best friends. We do everything together." KO said.

"Maybe you should try getting closer to her. Then maybe you'll get her to open up more." Dendy said. She looked outside. The sun was set. "I should be going. Goodbye, KO." She waved at KO as she walked out. KO waved back, watching her leave.

"Get closer to her...? How would I do that?" He wondered to himself.

"Who ya getting close to?" Rad asked, startling KO. He looked up at him and Enid.

"Yeah, I'm curious. Is it Y/n? You two are friends again, aren't you?" Enid asked. KO nodded. "Did you tell her about your little secret?"

"Uh... She found out. She told me she likes me back." KO said as he blushed slightly.

"Aw! So you two are a couple?" Rad asked. KO shook his head.

"No, we're still just friends." KO said.

"But if you like each other why don't you just date?" Enid asked.

"Um... We're not ready. We're fine just being friends." KO said. Enid nodded.

"But you're getting closer to her to take it to the next level?" She smirked. KO shook his head again.

"No. I'm doing it so she'll open up to me about how she feels about her turbo form and not having parents." KO said. Enid's smirk dropped as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"Y/n doesn't have parents?" She asked.

"No. She never did. They gave her away when she was little. She doesn't remember them." KO said.

"Dang. That's sad." Rad said.

"Yeah. Now I'm trying to get closer to her to get her to talk about it. But I don't know how." KO said. Enid and Rad looked at each other, smirking.

"I think we know a way. But it'll take some time. After all, you can't rush love." Enid said as she grinned widely.
