"You know Stan Lee?!" Carol asked, hope clear in her tone. "Well of course I do, he's my grandfather." You said with a shrug. "The Stan Lee is your grandfather!?" Hawkeye corrected.
Suddenly you felt like some kind of glorified savoir, that is until Speed spoke up. "Hold up, who's Stan Lee?"
"WHO'S STAN LEE?!" Wiccan, Hawkeye, Ms. America, and Theo all shrieked. "I take it my grandfather was like a saint to you guys." You stated, shocked at how these heroes idolized your late grandfather.
"More or less, it really depends on who you're asking." Carol replied, rising from her spot behind the desk. Your E/C eyebrows knit together in confusion. "What did he do?"
The blonde's eyebrows raised in surprise. "The question is what didn't he do! He was-..." Her voice trailed off when she realized that he never actually told you his story. "What has he told you?"
You scrunched up your nose as you tried to remember. "Well not too much, what I know about is all the super heroes and villains and their backstories, he never mentioned that he visited this place... When he did tell me where to find you guys it was too late to ask anymore questions."
Carol crossed her arms over her chest before enlightening you on your history. "You're grandfather was a special man, what made him special was not that he found a bridge between worlds outside the multiverse, it was the fact that he chose to aid those world in whatever way possible."
You nodded, although you still didn't understand completely. "I read something in his journal about meeting Tony Stark but before it got very far the rest of the pages had been ripped out." Carol nodded before clearing her throat. "You grandfather had been floating around for years but the very first time we found him was the time you mentioned. From what I heard, Tony had a feeling that someone had been spying on him so he tripled his security. He made sure F.R.I.D.A.Y. was monitoring every single movement in the tower 24/7. The computer didn't catch Stan's entrance but Tony was walking down the hall when he saw a random man come out of one of his closets. He was shuffling with a janitorial suit and Tony went up and stopped him. He placed a hand on his shoulder and questioned him if he had ever seen him before. Your grandfather denied it, but then Tony asked if he had a badge. Your grandfather checked his pockets but he found no badge. That's when he ran straight into the wall."
You let out a chuckle at the thought of your grandfather doing that. Your smile quickly faded when no one else in the room seemed amused. "Continue..."
"Tony took your grandfather to the lab and began some tests, although he found nothing abnormal about him except that fact that his immune system was far behind anyone's he had ever met. Your grandfather woke up and explained everything to an unconvinced Tony. Before Tony could get a second opinion, Damien happened." Carol paused and gave you a moment to speak.
"Wait-Who's Damien?" You asked, although things were finally starting to make some sense. "Damien is a man who had been tracking your grandfather's electromagnetic energy each time he visited us. He could never predict where your grandfather would land but he was able to figure out how frequently he visited."
"Why would Damien go after my grandfather?"
"Because a man was reappearing and disappearing whenever he pleased. Damien wanted that kind of power and when he found out there was a system of worlds outside the multiverse he wanted to conquer them all. It didn't take long for your grandfather to befriend the Avengers and once he did they battled against Damien for years."
"What ever happened to him?" You asked, a few things still not making sense. "Your grandfather killed him, and at that point he had so much family back home that he couldn't visit anymore. So he left, no one ever saw him again." Carol replied sadly.
"Woah that's awesome. The killing part not the leaving thing, that's sad." You fangirled, freaking loving the idea of your grandfather as an Avenger! "Hold up, if Damien is dead then what was I supposed to protect you guys from?"
"Technically, once someone or something walks through the door, no one else can pass through except for them. If that person or thing dies then the cycle starts over again when the next person or animal else walks through it. The Avengers needed to keep your grandfather alive because they couldn't give Damien a chance to get to the outside world. So there might have been one of Damien's relatives that was after the door that only your grandfather knew about but other then that, our world is perfectly safe."
"Oh... So I guess I just saved you guys, you're welcome!" You exclaimed, only receiving nods from the team behind you. "If you're in no hurry to get home, you could get to know my team. They don't get much company." Carol offered, taking a seat behind her desk.
"I'd love that!!" You admitted with a giant smile on your face. Hawkeye forced a smile, Ms. America sent a wave, Theo nodded his head, Speed gave you a half salute, and Wiccan did nothing. "So... Are you guys it or is there more of you? There are so many different versions of the Young Avengers, I don't know which one you are." You asked.
"It's just us." Ms. America answered with a smile. "Sorry if we disappoint you." Wiccan said softly, brown eyes holding a teasing glint. "No you guys are great! Besides, maybe some new people will come along, my favorite Young Avenger was Cassy Lang."
"Oh, Cassy used to be apart of our team." Speed spoke up. "Really?!" You asked, hope clear in your tone. "Yep, she joined us last January but then she died 2 weeks later." Theo finished, sadness covering his voice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." You muttered. "It's fine, it was months ago. Now is anyone hungry? I could go for a snack." Speed asked. "Actually I am a bit hungry." You confessed.
"Sweet, follow me to the kitchen." he said before zooming off. You let the group lead the way out of the room and down a flight of stairs. The Kitchen was opened up to the rest of the room to make the space feel huge. There was no table or island, however the room had several couches placed around it.
There was a flat screen TV in two of the corners and one of the walls was entirely made of glass. You saw Speed running around the kitchen before he ended up on the blue couch with a lap full of fruit. As you walked past him you snatched an apple. "Thank you!"
He went to take it back but his brother sent him a warning look behind your back. The group took their own places in the room and Theo started playing a video game. "So how has saving the world been?" You asked, trying to make super hero small talk.
"Boring." Wiccan muttered, opening a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. "What?!" You almost screamed. "We haven't had to save the world in a while." Ms. America said with a shrug. "How long is a while?" You asked.
"About seven months." Hawkeye replied, squirting water into her throat. "Wow, so does no one just want to commit crime anymore?" You questioned. "Pretty much, it's good but in a way it's not because we have nothing fun to do." Theo informed.
You blinked a few times before speaking. "You do have your own island and well I don't know FrEaKiNg SuPeR PoWeRs!!" The team only shrugged, leaving you flabbergasted. "Wow."
