It was a family pool day. Your mom had invited both you and your son to her house, alongside a lot of the family, to come round.

Your son's father, was in his life but wasn't in yours, anymore. Jonah Marais was your best friend and it was one, silly, drunken night that lead to being pregnant. You were never anything more then friends after that. Now three years on, Jonah had gotten himself a girlfriend, whereas you found it hard to find someone.

"My beautiful grandson!" Your mom screeched, lifting Ralphie into the air.

"Hi to you too mom." You laughed, heading through to the kitchen behind her. Pretty much all of your family were there, but you caught a glimpse of other familiar faces.

"You didn't tell me Jonah was gonna be here mom." You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose.

"Hey, he's Ralphie's dad, and he's supposed to be your best friend." She pointed out.

"Plus if I told you he was coming here with his girlfriend, you wouldn't have turned up." Your jaw dropped.

"I'm leaving, come on Ralph." You sighed, taking his hand.

"Y/N?" A voice stopped you from going anywhere.

"Jonah? I didn't even see you." You chuckled awkwardly, only for your smile to completely falter when you saw the girl on his arm.

"You just got here, why are you leaving?" He asked, Ralphie ran into his fathers arms.

"Well I guess I'll be staying." You muttered.

"Why don't you go and find Auntie Esther?" Jonah kissed his son's cheek before he scurried off.

"We all need to talk, like adults." Jonah ushered us to the sofa. If you had the choice, you would've ran.

"Y/N this is Tate, Tate this is Y/N." Jonah announced. You weren't the one for hatred, so you smiled at her, which she politely returned.

"Look I'm gonna cut straight through the shit Tate, I'm not a home wrecker, it's always gonna suck knowing that my baby daddy isn't with me, but I support that you make him really happy and if he's happy, then it's the best of both worlds for everyone." You said before either of them had the chance to.

"I wasn't expecting that." Jonah grinned, impressed how well you were taking the situation.

"I really appreciate that Y/N. I respect how much of an amazing mom you are and I'd never come in between you two as parents." She smiled.

"I'm glad we can all get along. Now let's go have a glass of champagne!" Suddenly your mood over Jonah being there from earlier was just gone - and it was probably for the best.
