Chapter Sixteen
“Every couple has ups and downs, every couple argues, and that’s the thing – you’re a couple, and couples can’t function without trust.”[1]
The scenery was breath taking.
The trees had started to slowly grow back again and regain their leaves. There was a soft breeze that made the trees move and gently flow with the wind. They also passed a big lake that was so clear that it was like mirror. Alahya was a very sweet horse and Bryar found herself not having to correct her much at all.
Most of the time she rode beside Jordan and they would talk about the scenery and the horses. She also found a lot out about him and he in return about her. It wasn’t a chat she normally had with Jordan – seeing as he was her teacher – but now they were just two people chatting. “It was nice not having to think and talk about school and homework for one day.” Bryar thought. Before she knew it they had been out a good three hours and she noticed the trees open and they were back at the stables where they started.
Bryar jumped off and grabbed the reins and lead Alahya back into her stable. There she removed the saddle and found a brush and gave her a good brush down. Bryar loved brushing a horse because it was relaxing for the horse and she found herself relaxing as well. Because it was winter all the horses had a blanket covering them so they would be warmer, so when Bryar had finished brushing Alayha she wrapped her up in a warm blanket. After Bryar had tacked her completely down she grabbed the stuff and walked to the room where “Tack room” was written on the door.
She pushed the door open and left the saddle on the rack with all the other saddles. Bryar looked around for a bucket with water she could use to clean the bit. She heard some noise and followed it to find Jordan cleaning his bit. Bryar moved forwards to him and cleaned the bit after him. When she cleared everything up she looked up for Jordan, but he had suddenly disappeared. She moved out of the Tack room looking for him.
The stables had suddenly turned eerily quiet. Bryar only heard the horses snorting and moving in their stables when she suddenly saw a shadow move. She moved towards the shadow and found an open door, which she carefully stepped through.
That’s how Bryar found herself in the hay shed. It was very dark, Bryar could hardly see where she was walking, and she knew it was the hay shed because of the strong scent that came from the hay. It was again completely silent when suddenly someone grabbed her. Before Bryar could scream, a hand clapped down on her mouth.
“Calm down, it’s just me.” Bryar pushed him away.
“What the hell is wrong with you? You scared the living daylights out of me.”
That only made Jordan’s smirk even more evident. He slowly stroked her arm, making Bryar flush brightly and move away.
“Stop.”
“Why? I can see your reaction to me. I know you feel something.” Bryar quickly looked away. She couldn’t deny that there was a certain gut feeling that she had that felt somewhat attracted to him but it also told her not to trust him.
“Well, not enough and st--”
Her words were abruptly cut off when he pressed his lips firmly against hers. He held her with one hand on her neck and with the other he pulled her closer by her waist. Bryar was completely shocked and pushed him away immediately.
“Excuse me! I already have a boyfriend. What is your problem?” She yelled, in frustration. He pulled her closer again but this time Bryar swatted his hands away.
