Dad Dan (Christmas Day)

"Mommy!! Daddy!! Wake up, it's Christmas!!!" Your twin kids, Joey and Lily shout at you excitedly, simultaneously jumping on you and Dan's bed. "Noo!" Dan moans tiredly to no one in particular, and while you agree that's it's early it is Christmas morning. Remembering the Christmas's of your childhood, sitting around the tree opening what seemed like endless presents while your Mum and Dad sat watching with smiling faces. It's actually one of your favourite memories, apart from when you met Dan of course, that's another story though. But because of that Christmas has always been a big deal in your house. So, even though it's not light yet, you and Dan tumble out of bed, ready to unwrap the gifts that 'Santa' left.

Making you way to the trees, both of you surely looking very zombie-like. A pile of presents is waiting for them to open.

The squeals of excitement can already be heard, "what are we gonna get?!" "I hope it's a dolly!" "I hope it's a Loki toy!!"

Ok, well let's find out, open any of them now! You say to them, as they rush to pull off the wrapping paper and find the gifts waiting inside...

"Thank you Santa!!!" "I love my presents!!" They say with wide grinning faces. 'Santa' did well this year; Joey got a toy truck, a Loki toy, he's obsessed with him at the moment, numerous other toys and loads of candy. Much like what Lily got, except she received two dolls, whom she decided to name 'Laura' and 'Allie.'

With the presents done it's time for breakfast! All the unwrapping has given you guys a big appetite and you quickly dig into the French toast, eggs, juice and tea. Afterwards you'd think that a bomb went off, the twins aren't exactly the cleanest eaters, by any stretch of the imagination. You send them into the lounge-room to play with their new toys while you and Dan wash the dishes and clean the room in general. "Merry Christmas, babe!" He says handing you a small box. "It's my present for you, open it!" He finishes, looking at you with the most adorable puppy eyes ever.

Merry Christmas to you too! Thanks, ok I will! You reply and start to open the box.

Aww thank you so much Dan!!! I absolutely love it!! Thank you!! He gave you a rose-gold pendent with a diamond flower in the centre, it's amazingly beautiful and you're so happy! Dan hugs you close, nuzzling into your neck before planning a sweet kiss on you lips. "Ewwww!! Gross!" Joey interrupts you, making a face at Dan kissing you. Laughing you pull apart and ruffle Joey's hair affectionately. Ah yeah everything's going well, you're so happy with Dan and your family.

You can't sit at home all day though, you're having a party with the guys from Bastille, along with their wives/girlfriends and children, it's gonna be really fun! But that's not until dinner time so you've got virtually the whole day to spend doing whatever you want.

Consulting Lily and Joey you decide to visit the park.

Getting in the car you turn the radio up, eh-eh-oh-.... "Daddy! You're on the radio again!!" Lily exclaims, causing Dan to profusely blush while trying to drive. You automatically go to change the station before being interrupted by Joey and Lily protesting that they want to hear it, they've inherited their Dad's puppy eyes meaning that you can't say no, so you'll be staying on this station until Pompeii finishes.

By the time it finishes you're loudly singing along, as are Joey and Lily. Dan is blushing, while laughing at you all.

When you finally arrive at the park everyone has mostly calmed down. You all get out of the car, Lily and Joey run straight for the playground, with you and Dan following behind. There's a swing set, slide, these like bouncy things and a small cabin thingy. Lily goes straight for the slide while Joey runs to the swing. Dan moves closer to you and hugs you, neither of you moving, just enjoying being together. As much as you'd like to stay like this forever you can't, plus you want to take some pictures of the kids, something you've been meaning to do more of, because before you know it they'll be all grown up. Snapping a few shots with your phone, they're currently playing in the cabin, it looks like loads of fun so you head in to see if you can join.

Before long you, Dan, Lily and Joey are all playing tag, but try as you might neither Dan nor you can 'seem' to catch them. Once you're all thoroughly hot and tired it's almost time to head home, after all you've still got to set up the party. Walking to the car Dan spots an ice cream shop. "Who wants a nice cream??" He asks, already knowing the answer.

"Me!!" Comes two very enthusiastic voices. After choosing what flavours to get, it was very hard for Lily to decide, you all sit at a nearby table to eat them, and man they're delicious!

What you get home it's getting late in the afternoon, the party is due to start in a few hours. There's still a bit you and Dan need to prepare yet. You turn the TV on and the kids sit down to watch it, that will keep them occupied for awhile. Dan already bought the food, some decorations and a little alcohol. You're planning on cooking roast chicken, veggies and all that jazz, so you'll have to start on that now if you want it to be ready...

"We're here!!" Comes a rather unmanly sounding shout from Kyle, who's arrived along with his wife and two sons. Not long after that Will, Woody and their families arrive. You welcome them and show them to their seats, dinner's ready and after all the trouble it took you hope it's good!

Sitting down everyone starts to eat, multiple "mmhms" "it's delicious's" and stuff of that sort can be heard, the meal is a success! It almost fills the whole table, there's potatoes, peas, beans, cauliflower, a huge roasted chicken, many types of sauces....the list goes on. Just when everyone thought they couldn't eat another thing you bring out dessert, a mud cake with dark chocolate ganache, it looks great if you do say so yourself! Clearly everyone else agrees, because within minutes it's all disappeared!

After digesting dinner a bit it's time for presents. All the adults decided to do secret Santa.

You ended up with a rather pretty purse, a phone case that says 'I love hipster bands, I'm so cool' and some other stuff while Dan got two scarves, a vest, obviously curtesy of Kyle and other equally useless but somehow needed stuff.

After secret Santa is finished Lily and Joey receive/give their presents, their pile of candy quickly growing! Having consumed some alcohol Dan decides to sing for everyone, much to all the kids excitement.

You hear the familiar beginning of Skulls, it's actually one of you favourites, it's totally awesome that Dan chose to play it!

Dan finishes and everyone in the room is rendered silent, sure you've all heard him sing but there's something especially magical about it tonight. Breaking out of our trance you all clap. Blushing -or is the the alcohol?- he walks back over to you, taking you in his arms, a feeling that's hard to beat. Swaying slightly from side to side all your worries drift away, you feel complete peace and happiness. You know you'll never forget this night for as long as you live.
