chapter 17

Chase's POV:
Chase: "Babe your mom said someone is at the house for me. Did you invite someone?"
Drew: "no i didnt who do you think is there?"
Chase: "I have no idea. Maybe my mom although i cant see why she would visit. I haven't talked to her in like almost 2 months."
Drew: "Well lets take Shadow and head home too find out"
We got the tag and went to the car. I put Shadow in the backseat and she curled up and took a nap. Drew drove home and i got the tag onto the collar so i can put her collar on her.
We got to the house and saw that there was an old run down mini van parked in the driveway behind Sofia's car. I went into the back seat and put on Shadow's collar and carried her inside. She needs one more set of shots so we cant let her play outside.
Drew: "Mom we're home!"
Sofia: "We are in the kitchen"
I put Shadow in the living room and walked into the kitchen.
I was looking down trying to find a place for Shadow's water bowl. I decided next to the door by the end counter. My back was to Sofia and the guest as i started to put the bowl down.
Chase: "So who's our guest"
Lucas: "Turn around
I recognized his voice and my heart stopped. I stood back up and kept my back to him
Chase: "What are you doing here"
Lucas: "I came to see you"
Chase: "You cant be here..."
Lucas: "I missed you. I know its my fault but dammit Chasity youre my baby and nothing will change the fact that im your dad"
I turned around and stared at him.
Chase: "Its Chase"
Lucas: "Yeah your mom told me about that i thought she was lying"
Chase: *scoffs*"Where's your girlfriend and the kids"
Lucas: "they're at the hotel"
Chase: "Then go there. Leave. You're really good at that. Ya know, leaving me."
Lucas: "Hey no thats not fair i left because your momma. she didnt let me see you"
Chase: "she never told me that.. she said you got scared"
Lucas: "Of course she didnt, your momma didnt want you to be mad at her she wanted you to be mad at me because she never thought youd find out"
Chase: "So whats the truth"
Lucas: "your momma and i had problems. One day i was supposed to go on a buisness trip but the flights were cancelled. I decided to head home since ultimately the meeting was cancelled.."
Chase: "What happened"
Lucas: "She was in our bed with someone else. I was overcome with anger and i started yelling. I said some mean things. She told me to leave. I said i was going to take you with me and she told you that you werent mine"
Chase: "Then.. how did you how did you find out"
Lucas: "Well one day i got a letter in the mail. Your mother wanted to collect child support. So she had to prove you were my baby and she did. The results of a DNA test stating you were my baby were in the envelope"
I looked at him in shock. I didnt know if i wanted to cry because i found out he wanted to be here since day one or because i was so mad that she had lied to me for so long.
I sat at the table and stared at him. Shadow ran up to me and nudged my leg. I decided i needed to process the situation and go to sleep so i asked my dad to come back later
Chase: "See you tomorrow?"
Lucas: "Yes. Is 11 okay?"
Chase: "yeah. Are you going to bring the girls?"
Lucas: "yes. Bye Chase ill see you"
I waved good bye and went up to my room. I laid down next to Drew and nuzzled my head into his chest. We bought Shadow a bed, but still, she landed up laying on ours in between us. I fell asleep fast with a sense of happiness in my heart. My life was really starting to come together.
