Call Me Chase

Chapter 28

*Chase is 22 weeks*
Chase's POV:
Lately everything has been normal, well thats a bit if a stretch. Im pregnant living in dad's house with my boyfriend. All was well though.
Today was finally the day of the baby shower. We invited over some friends and family. I had a strong debate over inviting my mom or not but in the end i decided to just put the invite in her mailbox and keep my expectations low, she made it clear she didn't want to be part of the baby's life. I dont even think she knew there is two of them until she read the invite-if she read the invite.
We were setting up and everything was looking great. We ended up finishing early and had time to relax, which I needed. Its been a difficult pregnancy needless to say.
I sat on the couch in the living room. Dad, Drew, and the girls were in the backyard debating on the best placement for the stero and speakers.
I put my hands on my stomach and sighed
Chase: "You two are killing me."
One of the twins kicked in response, I smiled.
Chase: "I love you too"
Shadow came up to me and rested her head on my tummy. Both twins kicked at the same time, spooking Shadow. I laughed and Shadow tilted her head in confusion.
I pat her on the head and she nudged me, indicating that I havent fed her yet and she was hungry
Chase: "okay okay lets go get you some food baby"
I struggled to get out of the chair but as soon as I got up Shadow did a spin of excitement. I put her bowl down and walked outside
Drew: No! There should be a speaker along each wall it's going to sound better
Lucas: No the sound will break off and the walls will cancel it out. They should be in the corners
Drew: If theyre in the corners the neighbors will hear it better than us.
Lucas: Chase! Tell him my idea is better
Chase: We have 8 speakers.
Drew: okay??
Chase: 4 walls. 4 corners.
Lucas: Get to the point child
Chase: You can do both
Lucas: Oh
Drew: Makes sense. Good idea
Allison: Finally!
Liliana: The war is over!
the girls jumped out from under tables, startling me, causing me to tumble backwards.
Drew: Chase! Be careful! You okay? Did you hurt your ankles or something
Chase: Babe Im fine just lost balance for a second.
Drew ran over to me and put his arms around me as though he was trying to help me stand.
Chase: Drew Im fine. Babe stop
Drew looked at me and kissed my cheek.
Drew: Im sorry I just worry. I love you I don't want you or the twins to get hurt
Chase: "I know babe its okay. Im okay"
Drew smiled at me and I went to the side of the house and opened up the gate people should be arriving soon. I proped the gate open with a couple of rocks from the garden. I put out some balloons so people knew to come in through the gate and not to knock on the door.
*an hour and a half later*
My mom hadn't shown up yet and I didnt really expect her too. I was chatting with my friend Martha, my best friend since diapers. Its been a long time since the last time i got to talk to her she was busy with school and well i was busy being a full time pregnant student. I looked up towards the gate and see my mom walk in, she was talking to dad. She had about 4 small/medium sized giftwrapped boxes in her hand my dad pointed toward the designated gift table and she pointed out of the gate and my dad went where she pointed. I continued to watch in confusion as my dad walked in with 3 big gift wrapped boxes on a red wagon. Him and mom placed everything by the table and i walked over, slightly shocked that my mom showed up, with this much stuff nonetheless.
