No game for this percussion player tonight

It's 8:30
I quietly tap my fingers on the table in the cafe. I'm waiting for her. She said she would be here. Maybe she forgot? Maybe she thinks I'm not here? I look out the window and see her coming towards the building.

She comes in and dusts the snow off her jacket. I get up and hug her. She smiles and sits. "You didn't walk in this weather did you?" I ask concerned. She nods and half smiles

"You could have called me. You have all of our numbers, right" she nods and shrugs.

We talk for a little then I decide to ask her something. "Hey,do you m8nd of I ask you a few questions about...well...you know." She nods

"How long have you been mute?" She types on her phone. My phone dings.
"For about 10 years. So since I was 13." Wow.

"But why though?" I'm curious to why she stopped talking at such a young age.

"Well I was always told it was best to stay quiet as no one wanted to hear me talk. They said my voice didn't matter. So i just...stopped."

"Who's they"
"My parents and sister"

I can't believe her own family would tell her to stop talking. I can't imagine going a day without talking. "How long have you known Sebastain"
"I've known him for a year and a half. We met at the music store and been friends since.

We talked for a little bit longer until it got dark. We left. "Let me take you home." I said not wanting her to walk in this basic blizzard. She nodded not wanting to argue. We listen to my chem and bring me the horizon until we get to her house.

I take her to her front door. "I had fun tonight. We should do it again." She nods in agreement. I hug her and head to my car. Maybe. Just maybe I can try to get her to talk again. It's going to take a while but i can try. Can't I.

By for now my loves
