Chapter Three - Suspicious

For as long as I can remember I knew my magic was different. More consuming. Which is why I pressed it down deep into my being.

Now, after having it thrust so suddenly and forcefully to the surface after so many years of forcing it down makes me wonder if my life would have been any easier had I just embraced it. It makes me wonder why I let myself get walked over for so long.

Sure, at The Academy we learned various fighting skills as well as how to fight different supernatural species and their weaknesses, and since I made a choice not to use my magic I worked harder than any other student in that aspect. I was great at it because I didn't want to rely on my magic.

However, over time I still got bullied because as newer students poured in and didn't see any abilities from me, they assumed I had none. So I went along with it. It was much easier than having to explain why I on earth I refused to use it.

Ofcourse, they quickly fell back when I handed them their butt in a fight but that didn't stop the stares and the whispers and the comments.

"Hailey." I feel some nudge me gently. "We're here."

I stir and open my eyes to glance out of the window. "Russia?"

"Yep." She says cheerfully. "We're getting rid of the irritation first!"

I chuckle at her enthusiasm until Samantha's voice cuts through my peaceful vibe.

"I heard that."

Amelia rolls her exotic green eyes. "You were supposed to. "

"Come on." Miss Black claps her hands together twice, while purposely avoiding my gaze. "Let's go greet the Vampires. Even though species tend to stay away from one another, when entering their territories it is customary to greet them as a sign of goodwill."

I bet she's over three hundred years old and she's avoiding me. How mature. I didn't miss the way she said Vampires either. As if we were going to meet Gods.  I roll my eyes as we all get up.

My eyes finally drift to the only boy among us females. Though, looking at him now, he hardly seems like a boy. He is solid. Muscle probably as hard as steel. Confident stance and sure steps.

Werewolf.

His hazel eyes so light they almost look green meet mine and he nods in acknowledgement. His brown hair so dark it's almost black. He is stupidly attractive. I nod back, feeling utterly ridiculous that I only noticed him just now.

I have the sudden urge to ask him if he decided which pack he decided to join but I refrain. I just want to say hi to these Vampires then leave.

As we get off the plane I see three men already waiting for us. Two with shoulder length hair and one with hair almost as long as Amelia's tied back.

He must be the leader then, judging by his you can't touch me stance.

"King Vladimir." Miss Black says politely as we near.

"Constance." They grasp each other by the elbow which I find odd but whatever.

Now that I'm close enough I notice just how pale Vladimir actually is. He is almost pastel green. His blonde hair makes him appear youthful. Maybe in his early thirties or late twenties. His aura however, made him seem much, much older and dangerous than that. Just how old is this guy?

I zone out as Samantha is pushed infront of Vladimir and introduced. The whole thing goes so painfully slow that I'm tempted to just shove her into his arms and get the hell away from here.
