Chapter Five - Light Fae

After that we didn't speak about it again. It was Alexander's decision to make and I didn't pry any further.

After I cleaned my arm and bandaged it, Amelia redressed the wound on my shoulder and now we were currently laid back on the seats thinking about everything. Especially since Miss Black just announced that we'd be dropping Amelia off next while Alexander thought about if he wanted to strip Jace's Alpha title or merely go join another pack. If he decided report Jace, he'd need me since I do have an arm full of scratches for evidence. Hence why we're dropping Amelia first.

"You know." I said to her. "All the supernaturals we've visited so far have been terrible. If the Light Fae are the same, I'm going to runaway and live amongst humans."

She smiles at me in a way that said that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. I roll my eyes at her as the plane begins to descend.

For the first time since we left The Academy I find that I feel nervous. Whether it's because I'm a Dark Fae going into Light Fae territory and don't know what to expect or because I'm going to have to say goodbye to Amelia, I'm still not sure.

When the plane lands the butterflies in my stomach have multiplied into angry rhinoceros. I felt like I was going to puke.

As we all left the confines of the plane I felt my head spin. I managed to trip over my own two feet and braced myself for impact. It never came.

Instead two strong arms wrapped themselves around my body and hoisted me up. I leaned away from him. "Put me down Alexander, you're chest."

"Relax." He says into my ear. "I'm fine."

I still lean away from him careful not to put too much weight on his chest.

"Evan." Miss Black greets making my head snap up to them.

"Constance." Says the dark man. I stare at him wide eyed. His blonde hair and green eyes make him seem more supernatural and powerful than I ever thought possible for a Fae.

"This is Amelia Green." Miss Black says gesturing to a teary eyed Amelia. But Evans eyes are narrowed on me.

Well, I guess it's true then, Light Fae and Dark fae apparently hate each other.

I roll my eyes and tell Alexander to put me down.

"Amelia Green." Says the man thoughtfully finally taking her in.

I can see it's taking all of her to not break down so I lay a hand on her shoulder. However, this has the opposite effect as she turns to me, breaking down complete against my arm and simultaneously ignoring Evan.

"I don't want to go." She sobs, her body heaving with the force.

My heart breaks inside. Amelia and I have a very strong relationship. She is my family. My sister. My best friend.

"You'll be fine." I assure her, my voice thick with emotion. "You can still call me. We can Skype or something."

She shakes her head. Suddenly furious.  "No! It's not enough. It's not!"

"Amelia." I reach for her but she backs out of my reach which causes me to lunge for her. "Let's do that thing."

She looks shocked for a moment but backs away. "No. I can't let you do that. You know it's risky."

"You know I'd do it for you a thousand times over." I say assuringly, watching her hair float. "Just pull me out."

"I'm sorry but what the hell is going on here." Evan's loud voice comes. He looks furious eyeing through two of us, probably wondering why the hell we have a relationship like we do.

"She's going to have a breakdown." This surprisingly comes from Miss Black. "Best give them a few moments"

Oh, so the undead hag atleast paid attention somewhat to our relationship all these years.

"No." Evan says grabbing Amelia by the shoulder. "No filth will be having anything to do with one of our own."

Up to this point Amelia had been shaking, now she went deathly still. I paled.

Then she sent an energy pulse so strong it threw us all back.

"Amelia!" I screamed at her, tears streaming down her face and mine.

She hadn't had a breakdown this bad in all the time I've known her so I knew there was no way I was going to talk her down in this state.

As I got up I watched her stalk to Evan, her hair floating furiously behind her. "Call her filth again and I'll cut your fucking tongue out!"

I glanced at her then, wondering how the hell I missed all the signs that led up to this since we left The Academy. Her unusual sort temper. Her rudeness. All the tears.

I scan for Alexander, making sure his okay before running over to Amelia. I know what you're thinking... Why didn't I see if Miss Black is okay? Well she is undead. What could really happen to her.

I reach down deep, pulling my magic to the surface as Amelia raises her palms, glowing orbs of light in each.

"This is unacceptable!" Evan yells unsure of what is happening.

I immediately jump infront of him, throwing up a shield as Amelia throws her bright orbs.

I grit my teeth as the force of it sends me back a little.

"Amelia! Stop!" I yell. "You're going to be fine!"

She doesn't appear to hear me and that's how I know she's too far gone in her magic.

She keeps throwing orb after orb at us, frustrated that it's not doing any damage.

"What's happening to her?" Evan yells as she places both her hands together concentrating on making one gigantic orb.

"Her intense emotions have triggered her magic to consume her. It's a defense mechanism. She's having a magical breakdown." I yell back. "Get out of the way, and whatever you do don't interfere."

He nods and takes off to Miss Black and Alexander who look equally shocked.

"Come on Amelia." I say. "Fight it!"

She appears satisfied with the size of the orb and throws it, obviously not realizing Evan is not behind me anymore.

I know what I have to do. I brace myself as it hurls towards me, dropping the shield at the last moment. I catch it but the force of it is so strong I fall back and roll a couple of times, making sure not to let go of the orb. I could feel my shoulder wound begin to bleed again.

"Hailey!" I hear Alexander shout as I stand up. My gaze flickers over for a second to see Miss Black holding him back.

I look back at Amelia and centre my focus on her, struggling not to let my own magic consume me.

I fuel the orb a little with my own magic and watch it change to resemble a dark globe with bright glowing specks of light.

Amelia seems transfixed on it as I step towards her. I know she wants to touch it. She's always been fascinated by my magic.

"I know you're scared." I tell her, watching as she never takes her eyes off of the globe in my fingers. "But Amelia, there's nowhere you can go that I won't be able to reach you."

I hold the orb out to her, the same way I did when she had her first breakdown.

She gently takes it. Her eyes finally glancing to mine, tears streaming down her face.

"Because we're Fae sisters." She says chucking the globe in the air only for it to burst like tiny bright stars above us.

"No matter what." I finish as she throws herself in my arms and cries.

I tell her reassuring things but I know her spirit will be broken for a while, as it always is after a break down.

"I love you." She says.

But before I can say it back, she passes out from exhaustion and all I could do was lay her on the ground before I passed out as well.
