Chapter Twenty Six - She's Back

The ceremony was held in a large clearing in the forest outside of Athena's Castle and I noticed alot of the hybrids mothers were here.

They kept glaring at me and I almost wished they'd dare to say something. My emotions were at an all time high and I wanted nothing more than to beat the crap out of somebody. Funny how they all seem to be angry at me when they all went around sleeping with my father - which is forbidden by the way - and gave birth to crazy offspring. Charming.

The clearing itself was very pretty. It was late afternoon and the trees and flowers produced pretty lights, giving the area a calm, sacred aura.

My eyes drifted over to Amelia's body - the only body that mattered to me. She was cleaned of any blood, and laid atop a table of white roses. It made her look even more beautiful.

My mind wondered briefly to her parents, if they'd ever know that their little girl was dead.

I moved closer to the body and stared at her. She looked so peaceful she could almost just be asleep. She wasn't turning blue or green so they did a good job of preserving her body, but she was still too pale which reminded me that she is in fact dead.

"I'm sorry." I traced her face with my fingers. "I'm so sorry Amelia."

I turn to go stand by Athena and unfortunately, King Darrius. My eyes briefly flickered to my father's body and I prayed that God could forgive him. If not, shame.

"Fellow Fae, we are saddened to welcome you under these circumstances but we are glad to have you with us to witness this farewell ceremony." King Darrius said, though he seemed somewhat uninterested.

I mentally rolled my eyes and scanned the area. My eyes found Damien and as his gaze meet mine I found myself unable to look away from him.

He smirked a little and my eyes darted quickly away. I could almost hear him laughing in my head.

My eyes looked through the trees and my heart briefly stopped as I noticed light fae in armour with bows and arrows.

Arrows.

Like the ones that were aimed at Vladimir. Could they have been responsible for that little surprise attack? I mean, it looked similar but I was too far away to be able to tell.

"Hailey would you like to say a few words?" Athena asks, shaking me from my thoughts and I step forward a little.

"I know that this may sound harsh to some but the only body I care about here is Amelia's, the light fae. She was the only innocent one in all of this and she didn't deserve to die." I choked out, gesturing to her delicate little body. "She was a kind, fiery soul and she had a big heart for a Light Fae. She wasn't superficial or vain and she didn't care what species you were. She'd treat you like you treated her. She was loyal and fierce. She was my bonded. My sister. My best friend. My family. And now that she's gone, the world is a sadder place."

But the end of my little speech I'm beside her body bawling my eyes out.

"We're fae sisters, no matter what." I sob over her body. "I love you."

Then, as my tears hit her body it starts to glow and I back up, my eyes widening.

What?

My eyes are glued to her form as it begins to grow brighter and brighter. Then it's as if an explosion goes off and I shield my eyes from the blinding light.

When my eyes focus, they widen at the sight before me.

I immediately start sobbing.

"Did you really think that you were going to get rid of me that easily?" She grins.

"Amelia!" I run into her arms, almost throwing her off balance but we manage. "I can't believe it!"

She cries a little too, holding me close to her delicate frame as if she wasn't dead two seconds ago.

"Man, why does my back feel so heavy?" She complains, which is so like her that I start laughing.

"You have wings, silly!" I exclaim, reaching out to flick the beige and cream feathers.

"Really?" She pushes me away, trying turning in circles trying to check out her new gift.

After all, she was sacrificed in a way.

"They're so beautiful, Amelia." I choke up, watching her as she finally manages to get a good look at it.

"Oh Hailey." She pulls me in for another hug then pushes me away again. "Stop crying, ya big baby!"

I laugh but it comes out with tears. My heart is literally bursting with joy. It's so hard to believe and when we finally take a look at the people staring at us with their jaws slack I can't help but smile.

Yip. We do the impossible here, honey.

But she's back and that's all that matters.
