Chapter Fourteen - Good Fucking Riddance

When I finally made my way to the plane I got stopped about ten times by the pack thanking me for my words and asking me when I'd be coming back again.

I lied and said soon but I never wanted to come back here again. Ever. On the bright side though, they didn't seem to mind the black eyes so that was good.

I sunk into the seat of the plane and rested my head in my hands reigning my magic in.

I felt emotionally drained. My magic coming and going was starting to make me feel sick. I stood up and found some aspirin, quickly chugging it down before finding some biscuits to munch on.

How did my life get so messed up? If I was anything other than a Dark Fae, Alexander would have accepted me. Everyone would have accepted me. But ever since I left the Academy, I felt like all I've been doing is trying to prove myself. Prove that I am worthy and deserving of being treated with respect and honestly, I was sick of it.

What did any of them know anyway? What did their opinions matter? A part of me thought Alexander got it. I thought he, of all people, understood what it felt like to be shunned and abandoned but as soon as he was up there he was just like everyone else. Selfish. Cruel.

It didn't matter that I was the one who got him to where he is. It didn't matter that I was his mate. Much like the Vampires, he only cared about being superior and accepted.

To be honest, I could only blame myself. Life as an orphan taught me that people only love you as much as they can use you. Alexander reminded me of that and I was foolish to have forgotten it in the first place. This was my fault.

After what felt like ages, Amelia and Sierra finally show up and we wave to her parents. Good fucking riddance.

"You take care of my baby!" Mary yells.

"We will!" We nod.

I quickly tell the driver were ready to go and laugh as Sierra's eyes widen in horror as the plane begins to take off.

She laughs as it smooths out and unbuckles her seat belt.

"There's a bed in the back." I tell her. "Go rest."

She nods gratefully and drags herself to the bed.

"Oh my god!" She moans and we chuckle.

When the plane begins to land Amelia decides to make conversation. Sierra is firmly buckled in her seat but still exhausted. I don't blame her.

"So Alexander is your mate, huh?" She asks.

I look between her and Sierra snd then I sigh. "Unfortunately."

"You okay?" She asks.

I nod. "Yeah. I'm just glad to be away from him."

And I am. Since I involved myself with Alexander I've felt as though I was pulled in a thousand different directions. I never even got a chance to breathe and think about anything.

But if anyone thought being his mate is an opportunity to bully me into staying with him, they've got another thing coming. At this point, I'd hand him and Beatrice over to Jace myself.

I sigh as we leave the comfort of the plane and hail a cab. The normalcy of it gave me comfort. All I wanted was to forget the past week. Forget Alexander.

But that was all a pipe dream so I let the thoughts drift away.

I was seriously beginning to despise the supernatural world. The barriers between supernatural species have created suspicion and distrust. Even dislike. People fear what they don't know, and so they lash out on it.

If I was going to learn anything, I was going to visit my own kind - the dark fae.

This time the person who accompanied us to the Circle of Four was male. A dark skin, handsome fellow with sharp fangs and piercing eyes. He was so preoccupied with Amelia that he didn't have time to look down on me.

I was relieved because with the way I was feeling, I would have smashed his head in.

We bowed when we entered and their curious gazes turned to Sierra.

"Where is Beatrice?" The werewolf woman asks as we hand our reports over. I glare at the wall and Amelia answers.

"She's with Alexander."

"Why do you say it like that?" The woman asks.

"Because she's with Alexander in the way I'm saying it." Amelia clarifies and the woman glances at me then to Sierra.

I push Sierra forward a little. "This is Sierra Greywood."

Sierra bows lowly and then squares her shoulders. "On behalf of the Lightwood family we extended our deep gratitude to the Circle of Four."

The nod at her and then read over our reports.

"A fae?" Richard asks looking the same as I remembered him.

"Yeah. He was strange. He didn't seem like a light or dark fae." Amelia answered.

"His name is Brett." I added.

They all looked at me in horror and I gulped.

"What did he look like?" Samuel's voice was urgent.

"Dark blonde hair. Medium brown eyes. Olive skin." I shrug.

"Oh my god." The werewolf woman says. "It's him."

"What?" I ask. "Who is this guy?"

"Brett is a hybrid." Richard says. "He is the product of a light and dark fae which means that he has the power of both inside him. He is extremely powerful. And cruel. He has the power to destroy us all."

I look at Amelia wide eyed. "What are we going to do?"

"We'll wait." Samuel says. "Find out what they're planning to do and then we'll make a decision. For now, we'll inform the other species just in case and you'll train here. Then you'll take Sierra back home and go see how the other's are coming along."

We nod and bow as we're dismissed but the pit in my stomach makes me wonder if Brett is the only hybrid out there.

Somehow I seriously doubted it.
