[Skylar’s POV]

The boys fell to the ground in a heated brawl, fists flying everywhere and their loud grunts of pain could be heard from where I was standing.

I didn’t know what to do; I just stood there in shock, watching as pandemonium erupted in front of me.

Beau managed to pin Max down on the ground and started ruthlessly punching him in the face.

Punch after punch landed on Max’s face and body. I heard a scream from somewhere and realized that I was the one screaming “Beau!” I shrieked, running over to him and trying to pull him off Max.

He looked towards me, his eyes steely and unrecognizable.

I took a few steps away from him, afraid, when his eyes softened. “Skylar,” he started to say, getting up from Max and approaching me slowly.

I backed away, fear written all over my face as I glanced behind him at Max’s broken looking body.

I looked back at Beau and locked my gaze with his familiar friendly and caring green eyes. My face softened slightly and I took a step towards Beau when Max, coming out of nowhere, grabbed Beau’s shoulder, spinning him around and punching him right in the face.

Beau growled and clenched his hands back into fists.

He shoved Max until he was lying on the ground and then started to mercilessly kick him in the gut. Max curled up on his side in attempt to stop Beau’s blows but was unsuccessful.

I was about to go and try and put myself in front of Max’s body when a hand grabbed Beau’s shoulder and tried to pull him away.

“Beau, mate,” Sam said, pulling him away from Max, “You’ve got to stop. You’re scaring Sky.” Both boys looked over at me.

I guess my face must have had fear written all over it because it was enough for Beau to step away from Max and take steps towards me. I backed away from Beau, looking between him and Max.

This Beau was not the Beau I knew. He was not the kind, funny Beau.

This Beau looked broken and lost and I didn’t know what to do to fix him.

I did the one thing I could think to do. I ran.

[Beau’s POV]

I watched as Skylar looked between Max and me, terror in her eyes and I realized that she wasn’t afraid of Max.

Not one bit. She was afraid of me.

Way to go Beau, you really fucked this one up.

I opened my mouth to say something, anything, when she turned on her heel and sprinted away from us. I watched her round the corner and disappear.

I turned to the only person who was still there, I turned to Sam. Sam who was my sworn enemy, my arch-nemesis, and I was turning towards him.

Obviously this situation was fucked up. “Sam,” I said, my voice shaking with emotion, “what do I do?”
