It Hurts So Good

Sinbad, a new stride in his step, walked side by side with his assistant, Ja'far, along the perimeter of the palace, just leaving a meeting with his generals.

"Have you and Y/N been getting along alright?" Ja'far asked Sinbad, concern in his voice.

Sinbad raised an eyebrow "Uhh, I'm fairly positive we are. Why do you ask?"

Ja'far threw up his hands slightly before returning them to their interlocked position "Nothing! If you don't see it, it's probably just apart of my imagination".

"Ja'far, now you have to tell me what you mean!"

Ja'far shook his head.

"Your king orders you to speak!" Sinbad commanded.

"Okay!" Ja'far sighed "It's just that... she seems a little distant around you, but it has only been over the past three days or so".

"Really?" Sinbad stroked his chin "I haven't noticed that".

"Like I said, it might be just my imagination."

Sinbad couldn't help but recall the moments he spent with you the past few days, trying to recall if you were acting strangely.

"If she is distant, maybe it has something to do with-" Sinbad cut himself off.

Ja'far leaned over with curiosity "Something to do with...?"

You and Sinbad had promised to keep your baby plan a secret until you weren't able to hide it anymore, so Sinbad refrained from sharing anything more with Ja'far.

"Bah, it doesn't matter!" Sinbad laughed it off and confused Ja'far even more so.

Later in the day, Sinbad found you in the garden once again, this time you were sitting on a bench, looking at your hands.

"Hey there," he approached you from behind.

You turned and glanced at him with an expressionless face "Hey, Hon".

He slowly sauntered over and had a seat next to you.

"Have something on your mind?" you asked with a fake smile.

Sinbad contorted his face to pretend to be thinking thoroughly "No, not particularly. How about you? It seems like you've been coming out here more and more all by yourself".

You were shaking. It was true, especially after you had lied to Sinbad three days ago after your doctor's visit. You just couldn't stand the guilt eating you up inside every time you saw him, and then every night in bed. Even just by being in this palace— in his kingdom— it felt like the stress was pushing you down more and more.

Sinbad looked at your troubled expression, and the fact that your palms were damp with sweat. He knew something was off with you, and it wasn't just from his paranoia after talking with Ja'far.

"Y/N, you're keeping something from me, now what is it?" Sinbad asked in a  gentle tone.

You gasped; you were hoping that conversation wouldn't happen, not that soon. But he noticed, so you knew he'd learn what your lie was sooner or later.
