Trudging through the sand, the sun had finally set, and Sinbad made his way to the lit campfire in the dim light of the moon.
"Who let Y/N go into the forest like that?" Sinbad's voice boomed as he approached, eyeing his generals.
Despite all of them being strong fighters for Sindria, they looked like a bunch of deer in headlights when Sinbad clmopearly was in a terrible mood, and needed answers.
Hesitantly, Sharrkon was the one who spoke up first "When anyone tried to stop her, she wouldn't even listen! She was so worried about the girl".
"That's why Morg and I went with her," Alibaba added "She was in no condition to go in there, but she wasn't changing her mind".
"Trust me, no magic could have even stopped her. She's so very very stubborn, that one!" Yamraiha added.
"She went in there just because she was worried for Zarah?" Sinbad's arms were crossed as his eyes traced along everyone at the campsite "Where is Zarah now, by the way?"
A few people pointed to the shoreline. Just down the beach was a collection of boulders that laid just out of reach of the tide at the roacky part of the coast. On the largest rock Zarah sat, looking over the open ocean.
Sinbad stared at her, a guilty feeling washing over him. With a clearing of his throat, he turned back to his group and Harun "Comtinue preparing for the night; I'm going on a walk".
---
Sinbad, letting his toes get enveloped in the wet sand, approached Zarah from behind. He made sure to make his steps be as notable as possible as not to suddenly surprise her of his presence. As he got only a few yards away from her, Zarah stood up and faced him, puffing out her chest.
"Harun said that Y/N didn't want to see you anymore, so why are you here?" She had an intimidating look in her eyes that were locked right on Sinbad, refusing to falter.
Sinbad was taken aback, being at a loss for words at first.
"You cried when you saw her injuries, so who are you? Why does she hate you but you still care for her?" Zarah continued.
Sinbad felt sick to his stomach "Hate me? Did she... say that?"
What you said when you left Sindria, and what you had just said to him in the shack, he never thought of it as hatred. But Zarah's words made him question if it actually was, and that he was just a fool.
"That's enough about me, Zarah," Sinbad cleared his throat "I actually came here to apologize to you".
Zarah's eyes narrowed onto his face, her expression going dark.
"I'm just sorry if I scared you, I didn't know that you or Y/N were on this island at all," he shrugged "When Y/N told me that she didn't want to be with me anymore, I thought I should take a trip to get her off my mind. I didn't think that trip would have made me run into her all over again".
"What did you do?" Zarah asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Y/N left you, but she wouldn't have done it without a reason. What did you do to hurt her?"
Sinbad hesitated, being reminded of the question he asked himself in his head for months "I-I suppose I don't know. Maybe me not even knowing is part of the reason".
"Friends should really talk to eachother," Zarah looked away from Sinbad at your shack "Y/N tries telling me whats on her mind to try and help me be more sociable. That's what she says, anyway".
"Friends...," Sinbad scoffed "I suppose we weren't even that then".
Zarah was confused, looking back at Sinbad to see a hurt expression on his face.
"How did you meet her?" Zarah's mouth was agape, and her doe eyes stared innocently at the man beside her.
"Y/N and I grew up together," Sinbad took a nervous gulp.
"In the Tison Village?" Zarah asked.
Sinbad blinked, focusing back on Zarah as he raised his brow "She told you about that?"
"Yeah, about how she grew up there with her dad," Zarah's tone was relaxed, noticing that Sinbad wasn't there for confrontation.
"Well, I was there too," he nodded.
"If you knew her that long ago and were maybe friends, how come she has never mentioned you?"
Sinbad bit his lip, suddenly changing the subject "I want to tell you more about that ring on your hand, if that's alright".
Glancing at her finger, Zarah nodded "Yeah, did you lose your powers too? Is that why she gave you Harun's ring?"
Sinbad smiled at the child's innocent question "No, no I never had powers. I actually gave her that ring because I wanted to marry her".
"Marry her?"
"You know, Marriage? It's when two people make a promise with one another to love eachother forever, and to stay by their side no matter what. I loved her so much, and I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life".
"Loved... so you don't anymore?" Zarah tilted her head.
Sinbad felt a twinge in his chest "I don't know, I suppose-"
Suddenly, in the distance, the two heard a loud, painful scream coming from the direction of the mainland.
