The bright, blinding light resonanting from Zarah's finger looked oh so familiar to you. You squinted, raising your hands infront of your face to protect your eyes, but you couldn't help but peek anyway. A giant, glowing figure began to form infront if Zarah, her hand remaining outstetched and her eyes wide with pure fear— you maybe should have warned her what you were doing first, you thought to yourself.
The muscular looking figure that appeared grew larger and larger, until they were about twenty-five feet tall from head to toe. When they stopped growing, the glow began to fade, and the blue skin of said figure became more visible. You looked up at them in awe; the familiar long, white braid, the gentle, gleaming eyes, and the jovial smile.
"Harun!" You couldn't help but laugh with joy as tears fell off your cheeks.
Harun tilted his head down to see you, and you saw his face light up.
"Y/N!" he too had an amused tone in his voice as he said your name. He bent down and reached an open hand infront of you, which you gladly stepped on like it was the natural thing to do. He raised you up close to his face, getting a better look at you.
"My my, how long has it been?" He sighed blissfully.
"Too long, Harun," you wiped away the tears from your eyes.
"Hey, are you crying?" Harun pointed out, wanting to wipe them away but knowing his fingers were too massive to do so "That's so unlike you to cry".
You nod, sniffling to get your composure back together "I know, I think I've just gotten softer after all these years".
Harun's closed-mouthed grin warmed your heart as he blinked your direction.
"It's just really good to see you again," he finished.
Zarah, meanwhile, was nearly shitting herself as she cowered on the earth below the giant blue monster that had just apperated right infront of her.
"Oh! I nearly forgot!" you crawled to the side of Harun's palm and looked down at her "Harun, that's Zarah, the new owner of the vessel".
Harun cocked his head down to get a look see "Oh?"
Zarah was shaking, too scared to move.
"Zarah," you called down to her "it's alright!"
Harun knelt down to get shorter, but that only made the ground shake and startle the girl even more.
"Hello, I'm Harun: a Djinn!" Harun introduced himself as he outstretched the hand you were standing on down to her.
"Come on, it's alright," you assured, waving for Zarah to hop on his open palm with you.
Zarah's eyes darted to you, then to Harun. She went back and forth before a few times before finally accepting her fate. She inched closer and grabbed on to your welcoming hand, helping her onto Harun's palm. You both were then gradually lifted up to Harun's eye level.
"Hello- Zarah, was it?" despite the boom in his voice due to his size and proximity, Harun's tone when talking to little Zarah was sweet and welcoming "I used to help Y/N on adventures back in the day, so it's very nice to meet more of her friends!"
Zarah was hiding behind you, clutching on your shorts for safety, but she nodded back to him.
It seemed Zarah wasn't in the mood to ask questions, or even speak, so you deside to fill Harun in on the current situation: You explained that Zarah had remarkable abilities and how some not-so-nice people wanted to hurt her. You also noted that some of those people might still be camped out on the beach after an awful encounter with them just the night before, but you had yet to check.
"I see," Harun stroked his chin with his free hand.
"So please, can you show just how cool you are to Zarah and take care of those guys if they're still around?" you ask sweetly.
"I am cool...," Harun gave a chill nod "I will do it then!"
He walked you to the beach after you settled on his shoulders. He struggled to maneuver through the trees, and even ended up knocking some down, which seemed to really stress Zarah out. You saw how tense she was watching her jungle slowly get demolished, but she probably said nothing over her still current lingering fear of Harun.
Sure enough, the ship was still docked near shore, and the hooded men had tents pitched out on the beach. They all immediately went on alert once they were bestowed with Harun's massive presence. Some shouted obscenities in surprise, others froze, and some got ready to fight.
You get up from your sitting position and stand atop Harun's shoulder, puffing up your chest before you gave an announcement to those below "Mages, hear my warning! As the goddess of oceans herself, I demand you get off this island at once, or you shall suffer the consequences!"
"It is the ocean goddess!" you heard a voice exclaim.
"What is the meaning of this?" asked another.
The familiar looking bearded man from last night stepped forward once more to speak "Goddess, you do not fully understand our intentions-"
"You're right," you interrupted.
The bearded mage continued "Please, hear our warning! That girl is a monster, and you might not know it yet, but the powers she possesses are dangerous, and can proove to be fatal!"
You have your arms tightly crossed over your chest as you loom over the men below, a stern glare in your eyes "This child, a monster? Ha! Don't make me laugh".
Zarah looked up at you with the utmost respect that she could.
"All I see is a girl who needs guidance, not violence," you conclude "Now leave, or my Djinn will make you leave on his own terms".
"So she sides with the monster?" a younger looking mage pipes in.
"So it seems," the bearded mage ignites his hand, readying a flame for battle "Now we have more monsters to deal with".
Zarah looked on at them, worried about what will occur next, until she glanced at you. You looked almost amused, standing there with pride.
"Harun, do that cool thing you do," you casually order.
"With pleasure!" Harun egarly stepped forward.
"Fire!" flames started heading Harun's way, but he easily swatted them away like small bugs as he knelt down infront of the mages.
Harun made sure not to lean foward too much as to not knock you and Zarah from his shoulder. Harun reached down and grabbed a couple mages in his fist, taking them high up as he stood up straight. The mages below still continued to throw fire balls, but Harun acted like it was just the wind brushing against his leg, because he then casually threw the two mages he collected far off into the ocean. As the men still on the ground witnessed that, they all halted.
"Alright men," beardy seemed shaken "retreat!"
The red hoods scurried about on the beach, picking up any supplies they could easily carry before mobbing back to their ship in panic. Eventually their ship set sail, despite leaving a collection of camping supplies behind on the beach.
"Yeah, and stay out!" you menacingly shook your fist at them as they departed, joy plastered across your face.
"And they're gone, just like that?" Zarah smiled for the first time that day, watching on as her former captors sailed away in retreat.
"Yep," you assured with confidence.
"Mister Harun," Zarah finally got the nerve to speak to him "Could you please train me? I promise I'll do my best and practice!"
"Why of course young Zarah, I am here to help with anything the holder of the vessel wishes," Harun was warmed with how Zarah called him 'Mister'.
Meanwhile, you exhale a sigh of relief, knowing that you're finally getting an adventure you've been dying to go on since you left Sindria.
