Discovering and getting ready.

Ay and I walked back to the house, feeling slightly nervous as to what my parents would say. As I opened the front door, Ben was back on the couch with Emerett, his best friend. Believe it on not, Emerett is Aylin's brother. It was funny how our two families got on so well.

Anyway Ay asked her brother : "Hey, Em? Do you know who 5 Seconds Of Summer are?"

"Uh, yeah, it's that boys band you listen to, right?"

"I guess you could call it that! So.. What if I tell you I got tickets to their concert, here in Sydney?" She asked, a sligh shadow of guilt creeping up on her.

"What? I thought you told me you had alredy asked your family!" I jumped in, confused. "You mean to tell me you bought concert tickets to a concert without asking your family?"

"Um.. Yeah." She looked ashamed, but Ben, Emerett and I just laughed it off.

"You're a crazy bitch, but I love you." I said laughing and bringing her in a tight hug.

She smiled a little before we headed to find my parents. They were in the cinema, watching a random movie I'd never heard of before.

"Hey mum, dad?" I asked shyly, not wanting to disturb them. They put the movie on pause and turned around.

"Yeah sweetheart?" my mum said, smiling at me.

"Aylin got us both tickets to a concert, it's a band called 5 Seconds Of Summer, and their gig is here in Sydney. It's next Saturday, and I can go crash at their house after that.. So what do you think?" I tried to get out as much information that would reassure them that this was a good idea. Apparently it worked, because after looking at each other and nodding, my parents turned around again, and my dad said "Sure think, pumpkin, you just make sure you get your homework out of the way first, okay?" I let out a light moan before promising I would. Ay and I managed to stay calm in there, but as soon as we exited the room, we broke off in our "happy dance" for the second time in one day. I reminded here that we had to convince her own parents now. A slight frown creeped up on her face, darkening her green-hazel eyes.

We went to sit down in the living room where Ben and Em were now playing video games. I sat on a bean bag next to the couch they were on, and Ay slipped in between them.

"Mum and dad said I could go." I let out casually so Ben and Em would hear.

"Oh, that's awesome!" Em said sarcastically. "Just try and convince our stuck-up parents now." He continued, bitterness in his voice.

Ay and Em didn't have an easy relationship with their parents, who fought a lot. Their dad was a alcoholic, but they refused to admit it. He sometimes got really angry, and yelled, and swore and threw stuff around for no reason. That's why their children spent so much time over at our house. Their mum was to scared to stand up to him and leave his sorry arse behind. He was to scary.

Anyway, we tried to find a plan to make them agree. Ben suggested that we didn't tell them we were going to a concert all together and tell them we were just hanging out here. Ay refused that, because she was an awful liar and she wouldn't be able to keep it up. Emerett asked if we wanted him to ask for us, we refused because it would make their dad angry.

We finally settled for me calling them, telling them that I invited Aylin to a concert, we thought it was the best idea.

As the phone rang, we were all around it, waiting for someone to pick up. I was secretly hoping Mrs. Burmen would answer, and not her husband. Thank God she did :

"Hello?" She asked. By the sound of her voice, I knew something was going on with her husband.

"Hello Mrs. Burmen, it's Maddison.' I answered, trying to sound as cheerful and upbeat as humanly possible.

"Oh, hello dear, how are you?" She sounded relieved it was me.

"I'm very well thank you. I won't keep you on for too long, I just wanted to let you know, I bought tickets to a gig for wext week end, and I was wondering if Aylin could come along? She can sleep over at my house afterwards not to bother you." I asked, and got worried because if the long silence that followed my question. I was supposing she was thinking is she should ask Mr. Burmen or not. She apparently settled on not, because she whispered :

"That sounds alright to me. I'll just make sure her dad doesn't hear about it. Okay? Thank you for her, sweetie, I'll see you soon."

"Okay, thank you very much, see you soon!" I answered and then hung up.

"YAY!" I heard a loud scream right next to my ear, as Aylin jumped up and down from excitement. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! "She said pulling me into a tight hug.

"No, thank YOU for inviting me." I smiled sweetly and ran up to my room, Ay one step behind me.

She put on some of their music, and I realised it was the same style as Blink-182, my favourite band. I instantly liked them. We were trying clothes on, wondering what to wear, how to do our hair and make up.

After listening to a couple songs, I decided Disconnected was my favourite. It got stuck in my head, for the entire week that followed.

The week went by in a whiz. Ay and I had done all our homework and assignements on Saturday morning, which by the way, wasn't easy, considering the amount we had to do. Finally we finished, and we started getting ready. I jumped into the shower, wanting to be nice and fresh for the concert. I then blowdried my hair, in the way that made it seem sliky and smooth, yet with lots of volume in it. Ay jumped in after me, doing the same. We both dressed up, her in a casual cute black dress, and me in my Blink-182 tshirt, and cute denim shorts. We both wore flats, knowing we would have to stand up for a long time.

The time finally came that we should get going, we got every little detail sorted out and almost ran through the door, shoting a quick goodbye to my family (and Em, who was staying the night).
