"Stop overthinking, you're only creating problems that aren't there."

It's been an entire week since Rosie met the other Shadows and her relationship with them has done nothing grow over the past days.  Everyday after school she would go back to Nathan's house, training, him helping her get through the transitioning stage and teaching her how to control her powers.

"Remember, just think what you want to do." He whispered in her ear, the both of them staring at the lit candle placed in front of them.  "This is stupid." Rosie groaned, dropping her hands to her sides.  "I produce shields.  I can't control fire." She gestured her hands towards the tiny flame on the candle.  "Yes I know," Nathan nodded, not realizing his hands were wrapped around her wrists, lifting her hands back up.  "But with your shields, you're able control things like for example, fires." He motioned his hands towards the flame.  "You can use your shields to stop fires or gases from expanding."

Nathan couldn't help but smirk at the annoyed expression on Rosie's face.  "Again." He nodded towards the flame.  Rosie rolled her eyes before raising her hands up towards the candle, her palms close enough to the flame that she can feel the heat radiate off it.  After a couple more tries, Rosie dropped her hands again turning around so that she could lean on the table and face Nathan.  "Nothing."

"I don't understand," He ran his hands through his smooth black hair.  "I don't know how to bring your powers out.  It didn't work when we tried to do a near-death experience with you—"  "Which I'm still not happy about how you told Rochelle to push me off the roof." Rosie jokingly glared at Nathan, who only just laugh, shrugging his shoulders.  "Hey!  I caught you."

"Is there any other ways to bring my powers out?  Diane said each Shadow had their own way."  Rosie reminded, crossing her arms over her chest.  "Well, near-death experience is crossed off on that list.  Rochelle had to have a panic attack to bring her powers out but that didn't work for you since you had one last week.  Maybe an emotional breakdown, like Cassandra had which brought her powers out."

"Alright," Rosie nodded, slapping her hands repeatedly against her thighs.  "Say mean things to me and make me cry." She joked, giggling.  Rosie giggles died down when she saw a frown form on Nathan's lips, his dark brown eyes full of sympathy staring into her hazel ones.  "Nathan?  Are you okay?"  A sigh fell from his lips and he shrugged his shoulders.  "I might know of a way to get your powers out but I don't know if it's a sensitive topic..."

"You can tell me." Rosie encouraged him, wanting to know his idea.  "How Diane first heard of you was from a news article about a massacre at Oscorp.  Fourteen dead and girl with enhanced abilities.  We know for sure that was your other half.  Do you remember how it came out, or what you felt before it did?" He asked, remembering that day when Diane told him and everyone else about a new, possible Shadow.  "Anger." Rosie answered bluntly, the images of what happened that day returning in the back of her mind.
