"Hey guys..." The group of three turned their heads to their friend, Gwen Stacy walking up to their table with a lunch tray in her hands and a disappointed look on her face. "Peter's not here again..."
Harry shook his head, staring at the empty spot beside him where his brown-haired friend normally sat. "Yeah." "He has missed lunch this entire week." Ned pointed out, taking a bit of his sandwich. "Is he okay? Especially with everything going on lately..." Mary Jane asked, her voice full of concern.
Gwen nodded, placing her tray down onto the table and glanced at the cafeteria doors. "He's fine..." She answered, sitting beside her. "He's just a little shaken up right now."
Throughout the lunch period Gwen would occasionally glance at the cafeteria entrance, hoping to see her boyfriend walkthrough those doors but frowned when he never came. With five minutes left, the blonde stood up from the table, getting her friends' attention. "Where you going?" MJ asked, seeing her friend starting to walk off. "Lunch is almost over so I'm just gonna walk around and look for Peter."
The group of friends nodded and watched her leave the cafeteria before continuing their own conversations.
After walking through the entire school, checking all the classrooms she'd expect Peter to be hiding in, Gwen walked up the small flight of stairs and pushed open the door that led onto the roof open. Gwen froze in her spot when she saw her boyfriend crouching on the ledge of the roof with his mask gripped in his hands.
"Hey..." Peter's head whipped around at the sound of his girlfriend's soft voice filling his ears, her bright green eyes meeting his teary chestnut ones. "Still nothing?" Peter slowly nodded his head, returning his gaze back to the busy streets in front of the school.
Exhaustion. Pain. Heartache. Guilt. Regret. That's all the things Peter has felt for the past seven days. It's been a week since the last time Peter has seen Rosie, it's also been a week since anyone has seen her. "You need rest Peter...you should go home." Gwen sat down beside him, wrapping her arms around his chest and let his head rest on her shoulder. Peter knew she was right but he couldn't, he hasn't had a goodnight's sleep since he got the news from Yuri about Rosie's disappearance.
He spent every single second of his free time to search for his best friend. Peter would ditch his lunch period to do a quick swing around the city to look for her, he would stay up through the entire night, hoping to find Rosie all safe and sounnd but of course, his hopes were let down. "I can't..." His voice cracked, turning to face his girlfriend as a single tear slid down his cheek. "I have to find her."
"I know you but you're pushing yourself too hard." Gwen said, pushing his brown curls that stuck to his forehead. Peter sighed, knowing again that she was right, in just this one week of Rosie missing, Peter managed to search through every abandoned house, warehouse, and apartment building in Queens. Tonight he was going to push his search to Manhattan. "Peter..." Tears started to form in Gwen's eyes as she stared at her boyfriend, seeing the bags under his eyes. "You're so tired..."
