I fear that SM Entertainment is leaving Red Velvet high and dry, and they will soon end up like F(x) and Girls' Generation if something is not done soon
So, this is something I have been thinking for a little bit of time now, but I truly do believe that if nothing is done about this issue soon, Red Velvet will end up facing the same ending as Girls Generation and F(x). Now, I know that Wendy got severely injured and had to take a long break (which I am glad SM let her and I am glad to see her back because I missed my girl) which is why Red Velvet was on a hiatus for a while, and why the members were doing unit and solo projects during the time Wendy was absent from the group. However, it's becoming quite evident and noticeable (at least to me) that SM really does not have a set path and future for Red Velvet anymore (at least in my opinion). Again, I know Wendy came back after a long break, so they were taking it easy by doing sub-units, solo activities, and then finally releasing "Queendom" last year for all the fans, but I can't help but notice their new path of direction seems a little unclear.
I think SM knows they can still definitely sell and still do well as they have tons of people supporting them and tons of people who still would love for the girls to stay together and promote new music, but I can't say for sure the company will have their back 100% with this. We all thought SM would continue with Girls' Generation and F(x) as they still make it evident that Oh! GG (Girls' Generation's subunit) is still a thing (as they still continue to make season's greetings for them; I don't know if they had one for last year, but I know they had one a little bit ago even though no one had heard from the unit since Lil' Touch era) even though they have literally not promoted or done anything together since "Lil' Touch" released, and I feel like Red Velvet could easily end up the same way if we aren't all careful. Obviously, fans do not have that much of a say in how long a group stays together as that relies on a lot of factors other than just the public's opinion (public opinion still does matter but not as much as other behind-the-scenes types of things such as contract/ contract violations, strict rules, policies, other members' opinions etc.), but I am hoping that if enough fans bind together and really call out SM for this behavior, at least some sort of solution will come of it (even though nothing probably will happen because we all know SM never listens to the fans).
I just feel like SM has just really been leaving the girls high and dry to do their own thing now as they have been around since 2014 and while I do appreciate the girls going on their own paths for their own individual growth, I would of course still love for them to be together and promote together as do a lot of people still hope for too. Anyway, that's my rant and personal feelings about the whole situation. Hopefully, SM will do something with Red Velvet soon, but only time will tell. I'm just praying their all okay and will continue to do great things.
