EXO aren't a bunch of average performers placed in a group together
When I first joined the fandom I was super excited you know. I started getting into K-pop in real early 2017, so I was on the hunt for new groups and stumbled upon EXO. As I was scrolling through EXO articles, their Kpop profile, etc. (you know the stuff you do when you want to get into a group so you do extensive research, yeah that), and one day came across some comments from people on some social media thing (I think, I don't really remember sorry) but they were saying that "EXO aren't even that good. SM just put some average performers together and got lucky that they made it big." I'm just gonna let those comments sink in for you. Ok it's been long enough.
EXO aren't just average performers put together. They have talent and are good at what they do. When it comes down to it, they're in this global music market with other big names and big company's. Some may also say that they got lucky because of SM or they're privileged because of SM. I want to close down those comments right now. Is being in SM gonna give them a slight boost? Yes, because SM is one of the biggest South Korean music companies so of course attention will be brought to their idols debuting, but that doesn't mean they aren't good performers. EXO have really good vocalists such as Suho, Xuimin, Chen, Baekhyun, and D.O. Those men carry some amazing vocals in every song they have released so far, and the members wouldn't have solo albums if SM didn't think they were good enough. Next let's address the dancing. If you're gonna sit here and tell me Kai, Sehun, and Lay (along with the others) aren't talented dancers then I must be good at honors biology (I sucked at it lol) because they seriously have skill and know how to grab people's attention. I literally am drawn to them on stage so much some would consider it a full-time job of watching them dance. They're so good and I could watch all day honestly. Finally, the rap. Oh my goodness the raps! When I tell you Sehun and Chanyeol have some of my favorite raps such as in "Love Shot", "Tempo", "Monster" (the list goes on for a while) they honestly do. I am hooked every time the rap comes during their songs, and I can't tell you how many times I have tried rapping their parts (even though I fail) in every song. EXO are seriously so captivating that I continuously watch their live stages time and time over again.
Adding to the vocals, even though the new episode of "All That" just aired today with SuperM you should check it out because both Kai and Baekhyun were performing (because they're in the group), and oh my goodness just listen to Baekhyun's live high note. That man said screw lip sync, I'm gonna sing it myself and let me just say ears were blessed. If that doesn't prove my point even more I don't know what will. (Also I know SuperM was mentioned even though we're talking about EXO. I just wanted to talk about the EXO members in the group to prove a point, but you still should support all the boys and SuperM in general.). I rest my case.
