'I'm done. There's no point anymore' - unknown.

I opened the door and the man that stood there was unrecognisable. Strangely, I felt like I had seen him before but I shook the thought out of my head.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"What the fuck?" Ryan asked before the man could speak.

I turned around to see Ryan behind me.

"Hi, Ryan," the man said to Ryan.

They know each other?

"Long time no see," Ryan said.

"Can someone fill me in on what's going on, please?" I groaned.

"Say hi to Dad, Alexa," Ryan said.

My eyes widened as I took a step back. He then took a step forward. I was frozen and couldn't move. I wanted to close the door but my thoughts weren't processing.

"Alexa," Ryan said, snapping me out of my daze.

I looked up at him.

"Are you okay?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"When your Mum texted, saying you were ill, I knew I had to come and make things right," he said.

"Well Dad, you only seem to care now that you know I'm going to die," I said.

"What do you mean? Your Mum said you were getting treatment," he said.

"It didn't work," I replied bluntly, trying to keep my tears back as they blurred my vision.

"Alexa, I bought this crop top but I don't like it, can I wear your red one, please?" I heard Lilly ask as she walked towards me.

She was showing me her top when she looked up at Dad and then back at me.

"Okay, what's going on?" She asked.

"And you must be Lilly," Dad said.

"How do you know my name?" Lilly asked.

"Ah Steve, you're here, I see you've all met," Mum said slowly.

"Steve as in...Dad?" Lilly asked.

"That's me darling," Dad said.

Lilly charged up the stairs and I could hear her room door bang.

"How could you, Mum?" I asked.

"I had to tell your Dad that you were ill, I mean he's your Dad," Mum said.

"If he cared so much, he wouldn't have ran off or he would've made the effort to try and see us before he knew I have cancer," I said.

"Can we all just talk? Catch up, maybe. Go for a coffee," Dad said.

"Fuck you and your stupid coffees," I said.

I rushed up the stairs, dragging my oxygen tank bag along with me and went to my room and slammed the door. I lay down on my bed in anger, staring at the five individual stars on my ceiling. Minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

"Go away," I said.

"Just hear me out, please," Dad said, opening the door.

He walked in and sat on the bed.

"I see you've still kept the stars on," he said, looking at the ceiling.

"I couldn't quite reach to rip them off," I said.

"Alexa, I'm sorry, when I left you all, I regretted it and every time I made an effort to see you, I knew you wouldn't want to see me so I never made it to the door," he said.

"Okay," I replied bluntly.

"When your Mum told me about your cancer, I realised that life is too short to be scared of being rejected and stuff like that so I decided to man up and see you and my my haven't you grown into a gorgeous person," he said.

I didn't reply.

"I regret not watching you grow up," he said.

"Do you mean that?" I asked.

"Yes, of course," He said.

"I always thought you never loved me enough," I said.

"Darling, it was never that, I've never ever stopped loving you," he said.

I bursted in tears as I finally came to accept that he did love me. Dad put his arms around me and hugged me tightly. We then talked for a bit and I realised I had one half brother and one half sister and they were twins. They were 4 months old and they were so adorable. Dad showed me a picture of them.

If I'm honest, I wasn't too keen on Dad and I certainly wasn't as close to him as I was to Mum but he's family. I was scared if I let him back into my life, he'd just leave again. That scared me a lot. When Dad left, Tyler came over. He seemed really bad as he was as pale as anything and he wouldn't stop coughing.

He said he was ill but this seemed something much worse. Surely he would've told if something was up, right?
