I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains. ~ Anne Frank

I stared at Alessio who was busily scanning one of the mountainous documents on his desks, his eyebrows were furrowed and there was a visible crease on his forehead, a clear indication of his frustration.

This was the first time I've seen Alessio frustrated, from all the moments I've spent with him though there haven't been many yet he's always calm, relaxed and collected minus the annoying burst of anger.

It could be the mate bond but it unnerved me to see him like this, I wanted to help him some way; I was his mate after all.

"Is there anything I can do?" At my sudden question, Alessio's gaze finally met mine.

"What?" I wasn't sure if he didn't hear me the first time or he just didn't understand what I meant.

"You look stressed, I was wondering if I could help with anything" I elaborated, pointing towards the intimidating pile of files on his huge desk.

Alessio's eyebrows slightly raised, finally understanding what I meant.

"You don't need to do that amor, I'm sorry I'm taking so long. How about I ask Aspen to take you out for some ice-cream?" Alessio suggested as he stood to his height of 6,2 that towered over my 5,6 frame.

My heart melted at his kind offer, he certainly wasn't how I imagined him to be from the stories I've heard. I pushed the emerging thoughts out of my head and answered his question.

"No, no, I really want to help, just tell me what I have to do"

Alessio stared at me for a few seconds, but even that short amount of time felt like hours under his intense gaze. I shifted from one foot to another as I waited for his answer.

"If you really want to, do you mind organising that pile into their correct cabinets. Most of them should be labeled."

I happily nodded and dragged one of the other chairs in the room across from his. I read the label on the first paper with was clearly outlined in red saying 'Alpha Nero'.

I found the cabinet labeled Alpha's and noticed how all the names were alphabetically categorised. Wow, I didn't expect Alessio to be so organised. This was going to be easier than I thought.

"How long did it take you to organise all this?" I asked Alessio who had gone back to his routine of reading and signing.

Alessio chuckled, "You can thank Aspen, for my 25th birthday she organised my entire office. She OCD like that"

"How old are you now?" I was curious in all honesty

"27, you?"

"18" I stated proudly

Alessio choked on his own spit, he looked at me incredulously once he had calmed down.

"You're 18?" He was clearly unnerved by the age I told him I was

"What, does that bother you?" I asked, raising my brow at him

"N-No it's just that you don't look-"

I couldn't hold it in anymore as I burst out laughing, my stomach started to hurt and I held it as I continued to wheeze. I'm sure I sounded like a dying walrus but I could care less at this point.

Alessio finally caught onto my tease and boy did he look unimpressed.

"Sorry but I just had to"

Alessio rolled his eyes and got back to his work.

"23, I''m 23 so you can relax" I said before returning to the task at hand.

I got through half the stack before one title caught my interest. It was regarding the recent war between the Northern and Southern territories. Suddenly I was suddenly reminded of the fact that this is the pack that was the whole reason for our survival.

"I should've said this earlier but I'd like to thank you for saving my pack" I said while placing the file in it's correct area.

"I never saved the Evergreen pack, I would've documented that" Alessio said and I lightly laughed

"If you didn't realise it if it wasn't for your pack the Northern Territory would have fallen"

I could see Alessio was processing my words by his silence.

"I didn't do it for your pack though, my pack was under threat and I took care of it"

"Either way, thank you" I repeated giving him a small smile before I realised I derailed from work again.

"Sorry I keep distracting you, let's quickly finish this up" I rushed, gesturing to the papers on his desk

"If it means I get to spend more time with my beautiful mate I don't give a damn" He said with a wolfish grin that made me roll my eyes at his smooth talk.

It was around 9:40 when we finished, I can't believe it took me 2 hours to organise just one stack of documents. No wonder Alessio never got any sleep.

I got up from my seat and stretched like a cat, ironic as that may be.

"You hungry?" Alessio asked

"Starving, how bout we order some take out?"

"Sounds good and thank you mi amor, your presence made paperwork not completely crap for once"

"Could I borrow your phone for a moment?"

"Sure, why?" Alessio said handing me his phone straight away after he entered his password. Well, that was easier than I thought it would be, I thought he would put up a bigger fight.

"There's something I need to google". I quickly typed in 'Google Translate' and was about to put in 'mi amor' before I got the phone snatched away from me.

"Hey! You said I could use it"

"I changed my mind" Alessio said, raising the phone above his head.

"Hey that's not fair, I'm shorter and injured" I yell as I hop on one foot, Alessio laughing at my futile attempts at reaching the phone.

I gripped his shoulder to gain some support before attempting to jump for it one more time. I unsurprisingly missed but this time I stumbled in my landing. Alessio wrapped his arm around my waist steadying me and pulled me into his chest; I didn't dare move. We were so close that if I were to go on my tippy toes I could kiss him.

He slowly leaned his head down and before I knew it I could feel sparks erupting on my right cheek from where he kissed me.

"Sorry but I just had to" He smirked, my jaw hit the floor as he repeated the phrase I spoken earlier. He let go of me and his warmth quickly disappeared, he walked out of his office and turned his head towards me where I was rooted to the same spot.

"You coming?"
