"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." ~ Sun Tzu

Reynah's POV

I heard a low growl, no doubt coming from Alessio. In an attempt to calm him down I grabbed his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. His eyes changed from red to their usual dark brown as he looked at me.

"Stay here and don't come outside." Alessio demanded, making his way to the door where I could already make out the panicked voices of the pack.

"You can't be serious. Let me help - I'm the pack's Luna, aren't I? " I said, exasperated with his actions.

"I'm not losing you out there, stay here."

"But-" I heard another scream outside and stopped my arguing immediately.

"Promise me that you won't get hurt." I asked giving up trying to convince him.

"I promise." With those words, he ran out to the packgrounds. The sound of glass shattering, and wood breaking resonated through the wall.

He must have shifted.

I try to calm myself down, drowning out the hundreds of incoherent voices in my head by blocking the mind link.

Alessio won't let me fight, but I can still be useful in other ways.

With that thought in mind, I rushed out of the house, making sure there weren't any rogues in my line of sight. I couldn't see them, but their rotten scent was everywhere, thankfully it was faint so they weren't close.

I saw the infirmary a few yards away from where I stood, hidden in the shadows. With the building in my sight, I sprinted towards it making sure I stayed out of sight. My senses had heightened since the Luna Ceremony, something I didn't know was even possible but it proved to be an advantage is situations such as this.

I was so close, only a few more meters. I was ready to make a final sprint before I heard a familiar scream, stopping me in my tracks.

Jade!

"Dammit it" I quickly changed directions and tried picking up on her scent amongst all the other rogues and pack wolves. My eyes widened when I saw her trying to free herself from a rogue who had his teeth deep into her shoulder, the blood was pouring out of the open wound, soaking her clothes in the crimson colour.

Why isn't she shifting?!

"Let go of her, mutt!" I yelled out, consumed with anger. I picked up my speed and delivered a kick to the rogue's side. He let out a yelp of pain as he released Jade who immediately collapsed to the ground in a heap. While the rogue was still disoriented, I quickly made my way to Jade and gently put her uninjured arm around my shoulders.

"I know it hurts but you have to help me out here Jade, I need you to run with me okay?"

Jade was breathing heavily but nonetheless nodding to show her understanding.

I tried to run as fast as I could without making her injury worse but I could already hear the rogue following us, he had a rabid look on his face that made my heart accelerate even more.

Shit

With the rogue prowling towards Jade and I, I was getting ready to shift but before I could another werewolf pounced on him, I quickly made a run for it with Jade still in my arms trusting the wolf could take care of herself. Just in case I quickly turned my head around, catching a glimpse of the wolf's eyes and turning back.

With Jade clinging onto me, I quickly made my way to the infirmary.

I glanced down at her, she was barely conscious but still - she was breathing. I abruptly stopped and looked up.

'SilverClaw Infirmary'. The imprint was in black ink, I barged through the door not surprised to see the abundant amount of injured wolves inside, both warriors and pack members. My sudden appearance must have scared them from there rigid stances but when they saw my face they relaxed.

"Luna!"

"Luna, what are you doing here?"

"Are you hurt?"
"Please help us!"

"Goddess, is that Jade?!"

I momentarily ignored their shouts as I laid Jade down on the closest available bed, she moaned in pain in response to the sudden shift in position. I took a look at her shoulder and sighed with relief when I found that none of her bones seemed to be broken so I just needed to stitch up her wound.

Shouldn't she be healing by now though?

I turned around.

"Everything's going to be alright, please calm down. I'm completely fine, I'm a healer so I can help." I didn't know what to say to any of them, but I hope they found some reassurance in my words.

I quickly grabbed the essential materials to make a healing tonic and I took a deep breath to stop my shaking hands before I grabbed the needle and thread. I poured the tonic on her wound and thankfully she seemed to relax a little.

"This is going to hurt." I warned before stitching up the wound. Jade grunted in pain but she was easy to work with.

I cleaned up the blood and covered her body with the now stained sheets.

"Try to get some rest, I'm going to help the others."
