"Mr Numen !!!Mr Numen!!!" the English teacher called out and brought me out of my wild thoughts "this is the third time this week am catching you daydreaming and this is so unlike you is there a problem" and that's when I looked around to see the whole class looking at me.

"no am fine Mrs Leroy just abit tired"

"well you have been like this for three classes and as much as it pains me,,, you will have to remain for detention" Detention?? Oh come on!!!!

"okay madam" I said as she took one look at me and went away.

"Are you sure you are okay? The past one week you have been like this?" said Lucinda who for some reason was seating beside me having taking the opportunity gladly after Troy left for a three day basketball captain's camp.

"yeah am fine just tired don't worry" I said putting the fake smile that I have perfected in the past one week since I broke up with Zynn or she broke up with me whatever it was.

"you know am always here for you right?" she said as she patted my back and at the corner of my eye could see Zynn who was seated at the back shift in uncomfortably.

"yeah I know" getting my arm away from her "thanks Lucinda" and looked at the teacher as she continued talking but all I could see like the rest of the week was just numbers, letters nothing that made sense at all.

Soon enough class was over and I was about to get up when I felt Mrs Leroy on my desk "Callan Numen did you forget about our date?" oh yeah damn it the detention!!!

"oh sorry am just not used to such things" I said as I returned my bag down and sat as others left the class.People were looking at me but one particular face that I desperately wanted so close is what caught my eye.She seemed sad but she seemed to be handling it better than I was since she didn't look as helpless as I was. She gave me a faint smile as Terry dragged her way leaving me wishing it was me dragging her away to go make out or something just the two of us but apparently wishes ain't horses.

Soon enough it was just me and black mean Jade as they called her who was always in for detention since she was always late .Oh well! We always find ourselves in situations that never thought would happen to us so,,, how bad can it be?

"Jade Perkins and Callan Numen will you please move to the front one to seat here and the other to sit there" we did exactly that now what? "Jade welcome again to detention we are both not surprised why you here are we now? But for you Callan Numen one of my best students I don't know what is happening to you lately. You have been absent-minded not only in my class but most classes as the teachers have been saying in the lounge and you have also been missing a lot of basketball practice and the couch is getting worried.This is so unlike you anyway I'll help you with whatever you are facing. So am going to give each of you ten papers and write your life in all of them both front and back

"ten???" I asked as she nodded her head "what is this a novel?????"

"am sorry Mr Numen but you have to do it or face greater authority if you know what I mean" oh fuck!

"whatever!" I mumbled as she went away to get the papers. Story of my life!!what happened to a brighter future not a darker one!!!!!

"you know everyone knows I do whatever I do to get to detention on purpose and avoid people during breaks but you,,,, this whole week its like you have been pushing the teachers to the wall so that you can be here,,, that's cool to me but for a boy who is always following rules, amazing career in basketball and music, good grades" looking at me as I looked at the girl " that is so not you? "

"believe me when I tell you I cant control what is happening to me right now"I said as she laughed "what's so funny about what I just said"

"I don't mean to rude or anything,,,, wait,,, who am I kidding? I don't know any other language apart from rude,,,,anyway you are a Numen you practically control everything!!!"

"what is that supposed to mean?"

"for someone with such high grades ,,, you sound pretty damn right now,,, Your family is the most influential in the whole of Boston and New York you control whatever you want to happen anytime anywhere,,,,"

Listening to her I just felt like laughing is this what people think of me? Laughing "I wish it was easy as you say it but honestly it's the exact opposite,,,, you see" before she cut me off

"don't get me wrong I don't care and I don't want a moving speech right now,,, I just want you to realize how much you are taking for granted and use it to solve whatever is troubling you,,, okay nice talk if you tell anyone we ever talked I'll kill you I got connections" as she looked the other side and I was left looking at her. Weird but honestly she had a point. Am a Numen? Somehow I can use what I have and help Zynn even with our situation instead of seating here feeling helpless .

Detention wasn't so bad because I wrote literally everything that was in my head so when I got out of that room I felt a little lighter.I walked past the library to see Terry and Zynn laughing at something. Damn! the things this girl made me feel? Just seeing her smile made my heart glow. I don't know what our fate is but I know of a fact if this feelings I have for her aren't real then I don't know what is real.

I went to the parking lot before I could reach my car I bumped on to someone

"my bad" he said as he stepped away "am sorry am in a bit of a hurry" he said as he looked at me.He didn't catch my attention the car behind him that was parked near mine did.It looked exactly like mine.I have never seen it in this school and that was weird because my car was a very unique brand.So who had that car?

"I know,,,, those cars look exactly the same " said the other guy.

"yeah "

"anyway need to go for basketball practice,,," okay what?

"you play basketball here?"I asked the guy who I now looked at and was sure I have never seen him in this school.He reminded me of some celebrity is it Cameroon Dallas? Or Austi n Mahone?"

"yeah apparently coach says I need to take the place of some guy who has been missing practice for no apparent reason.Sometimes as much as my mum says it the world and all characters available I think some people are just stupid,,, I mean why throw such an amazing career for no apparent reason? It doesn't' even make sense that guy must be really stupid right?" he said to me but I was too dumbfolded to speak because he was talking about me.I AM THE STUPID GUY!!!!!!!!!!

"what?,,, yeah ! that guy must be really stupid!!!"I said;

"I know,,,, anyway am really running late ,,,,by the way my name is Corbryn am new here"

"Corbryn? Like Corbryn Seavey?"     

"you know me? wow! so much for trying to go somewhere people don't know me,,, wait you also look familiar,,,,"

"yeah because our families are partners,,"

"CALLAN NUMEN!!!!!!!oh hell now I remember,,, wow! Who thought we would ever,,,,,"

"yeah anyway you should get going for practice"

"okay,, nice to meet I have a good feeling we will be good friends" he said before he rushed off.

"yeah me too its not like you are about to replace me in the team?"I said to myself suckily as I went home.
