Chapter 12

Cole’s POV

When I wake up Elizabeth wasn’t there. I went to the kitchen to get breakfast. When I went to pour Froot Loops there was a note taped on the box.

Dear Cole (or who he got to fix his cereal since I’m not here),

I went to Katherine’s house. I am going to the masquerade with Katherine, so if you want to see me find me. You know what my dress looks like so you already have an advantage over Justin. I’ll see you tonight, hopefully. If you need anything call me. Don’t burn the house down, no parties, make sure the guys look decent tonight. I love you.

I got out my phone and texted her.

A whole day without you?

Yeah, sorry baby:( find me at the masquerade fast

Ok I’m gonna miss you

All the guys wake up and I tell them that Elizabeth is gone for the day and they all seemed sad. Elizabeth always made us laugh. We sit on the couch and watch TV then someone comes through the door. Not expecting anyone we all stand up except Will, he hides under the blanket. Elizabeth threw her hands up in the air

“It’s just me.”

“God, you scared me.” Dana says.

“Missed me already?” I asked holding my arms out.

“Yeah whatever Pendery” she says going up the stairs.

“Babe is everything okay?” I ask following her up.

“Everything’s fine” she said but you could tell by her voice everything wasn’t fine.

“Whats wrong” I ask hugging her from behind, putting my head on her shoulder.

“Me and Katherine got in a fight,”she said softly “Justin, she helped Justin,”he voice getting a little louder.

“What?”

“She knew he was going to be on the beach that night. She told me that we should go on a walk and she knew Justin was going to hurt you.”

I just hugged her closely and assured her everything was going to be okay. I couldn’t believe Katherine had betrayed her. They were such close friends. 

I just sat there and held her close for a little while. She eventually fell asleep. I woke her up around 5:30.

“Sweetheart, it’s time to wake up. You have to get ready for the masquerade”

“I’m gonna call Danielle and go with her.”

I gave her a look as if she was crazy.

“You didn’t think I’d just give up all my plans tonight would you would?” she asks getting all of her make up.

“And that’s why I love you.”

“I’ll see you tonight love.” She says walking out the door.

Me and the guys sit around until 6:30. After we get ready we all drive to the venue. I immediately start looking for Elizabeth. Looking for the deep red dress that fits her perfectly. Looking for her beautiful smile. Looking for...the necklace! She never took off the necklace I gave her. After about an hour of searching I was almost certain she had tricked me and not come. Then I saw the gorgeous red dress walking in from the garden. Then a bright light blinded my view. Once my eyes adjusted I could tell that there was a spotlight on the girl across the room too.
