Chapter 29

Elizabeth’s POV

“I want you,” he said as he kneeled down next to me.

“Why me?” I asked through the tears.

“Because, you are weak, and you have no one to protect you.” he said as his hand touched my cheek. I flinched as a reaction. He helped me up on my feet and I walked with him to his car. I knew better than to fight Justin, he would win and I would get hurt. I got in the car without saying a word and then he started driving. I didn’t know where we were driving to and it was hard to focus on my surroundings when so many things were rushing through my head. All of a sudden something snapped in my head, I needed to get away from him.

“Umm Justin?” I asked him breaking the deadly silent car ride.

“What?” 

“Can we stop at a gas station please?” I asked him.

“Can’t you hold it?” he asked.

“Do you want red seats?” I ask back rhetorically.

“Don’t start getting sassy with me. We can stop soon.” he said.

About 10 minutes later we pulled up to an old gas station. I got out and ran inside. I went to the bathroom because I really had to pee then I ran into the storage room and hid in a big empty box. I got my phone out, yes he didn’t take away my phone guess someone didn’t take Kidnapping 101. I called Dana’s phone and after 3 rings he finally answered. 

“Where are you?” Dana asked frantically.

“Justin kidnapped me and now I’m at some old gas station,” I whisper back.

“Do you know where it is?” he asked me.

“No clue, use find my iPhone to find me just please hurry.” I said almost breaking out in tears.

“We will, just stay on the phone with me okay?” he said trying to be comforting. I nodded and then realized he couldn’t see me.

“Okay,” I said quietly. Dana passed the phone around and the guys calmed me down, well sort of. 10 minutes later I heard the door bust open. 

“It’s the police please come out with your hands up.” the voices said. I put my phone in my pocket and slowly put my hands up as I started to come out of the box. 

“What’s your name darlin’?” the woman officer asked me as she walked towards me.

I was shaking but I managed to tell her my name.

“Your friends are waiting outside for you sweetie.” she said wrapping her arm around my shoulder and escorting me to the guys. Dana came up and gave me a hug, I looked over and Justin’s car was there but he wasn’t.

“Excuse me mam but, do you know where my kidnapper went?” I asked her.

“He fled when we pulled up we have officers and K-9 units tracking him but, we need all the information we can get so if you don’t mind answering a few questions.”

“No problem,’ I said and I told her everything I knew about Justin. 

We got back to the house around 10 am. I went to my room and fell asleep. When I woke up I had serval text messages from my friends. Before I could open them Danielle was calling me. I answered the phone.

“Hello,” I said. 

“Finally you answer, are you gonna come to the party tonight?” 

“What party?” I asked her.

“Up at the Johnson’s place tonight, we are having a bonfire.”

“Sounds fun! Put me down!” I said, I needed to get my mind off of this morning.

“Ok, Luke needs a ride can you give him one?”

“Yeah no problem! See ya soon,” I said as I hung up.

“Guys!!!” I yelled through the house.

“What do you want now?” Dana asked.

“I want to know what happened to my boots. I can’t find them and I have to go somewhere tonight.”

“In the living room and where?”

“The Johnson’s,” I said kissing Dana on the cheek and running out the door before he asked anymore questions.

I pulled up at Luke’s house and walked inside. I had practically grown up with Luke so his house was mine.

“Hey darling, how are you?” Luke’s mom asked me.

“I’m great, how about you?” I asked back.

“Lovely, Luke is upstairs.”

“Thank you,” I said heading up to Luke’s room. WHen I walked in he was putting his guitar in the case.

“Ready to go?” I asked him.

“Yeah let’s go,” he said as we walked downstairs. We hopped in the truck and started driving to Jason’s house. I had met Jason a few years ago and we always took my truck to parties. When we pulled up Jason was already outside. He got in and we took off towards the Johnson’s place using back roads. 

“Who’s Cole, Gabe, Will, and David?” Jason asked. 

“Some friends why?”

“They are blowing up your phone.”

“They can wait, I wanna have a fun night.”

We made it to the Johnson’s around 7:10. There was already a bonfire going and tailgates pulled down. We got out of the truck and I stuck with Luke. Around 10 the party was just getting started. Everyone was around the fire listening to our “band” which consisted of a few guitars and whoever wanted to sing. I was sitting on my tailgate just enjoying it being like old times when Jason called my name.

“Hey Elizabeth, we haven’t heard you sing in a while.” he said.

“Guys I really don’t feel like-”I started but, I was cut off by Luke.

“C’mon one song,”Luke asked as he gave me puppy dog eyes. I used to have a thing for Luke, before Justin, but those eyes get me every time. 

“Fine,” I said walking over towards the boys. 

“Whatcha wanna sing?” Jason asked.

“Little White Church.” I said.

They started playing and I sang. I had forgotten how much fun these parties were. After the song I sat with Luke while he played for everyone else and when he would sing...oh my gosh my heart would melt. I rested my head on his shoulder.

“First couple of the night!” Jessie shouted. We always had this rule where the first two people who showed affection in any way would have to sing a duet together. Me and Luke looked at each other and decided on a song. We chose Remind Me by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. When we first started singing we were sitting down but then Luke got up on the tailgate an pulled me up with him and we started dancing. He was spinning me around and dipping me. When we ended the song we were looking in each other’s eyes starting to lean in when we heard the one thing no party wants to hear. Police sirens.
