Chapter 27

Elizabeth’s POV

“Cole, slow down with the questions.” I said putting my hands on his shoulders.

“I’m sorry I was just worried that I lost you.” he said looking into my eyes. 

I thought about where I had been and what I was doing. Should I tell him? You know it’s the right thing to do. But I can’t just tell him. It would break his heart. 

“Elizabeth?” Cole asked snapping me away from my thoughts, “Where did you go?”

“I,” tell him it’s better now than later, “ I was out on a walk.”

“Okay, please don’t run off like that again.” he said pulling me into a hug.

“Okay,” liar, you are going out tonight, “I won’t.”

“Elizabeth?” Cole asked sounding concerned.

“Mmhhmmm?” I said into his chest.

“Do you still love me?”

Yes. No. Maybe. No. Yes. I don’t know. Apparently I was silent for too long and Cole got mad.

“You don’t do you?” he yelled, “You only wanted me for the fame!”

“No, Cole it’s just that-”

“Just that what!” he yelled back at me.

“Maybe I found someone else,” I yelled with tears streaming down my face. Before Cole could answer I ran out of the door. I didn’t know where I was going or what I was going to do. I did the only thing I could think to do. I called Luke.

“Elizabeth?” the familiar voice went through my ears, but it wasn’t through the phone. I turned around and a look of shock came over Luke’s face.

“What happened?” he asked pulling me into a hug.

I couldn’t manage to get any words out. I felt so safe with Luke’s arms wrapped around me. Suddenly I heard a voice that was far too familiar but, unlike Luke’s I didn’t want to hear this one. It was Cole. I tried to pull away from Luke but, he wouldn’t let me. Things were about to go down.

“Luke!” he yelled as he came closer to us. I was shaking because I was so scared.

“I thought I told you to stay away from her!” Cole said stopping right in front of us.

“And I said I wasn’t going to push her away like you do.” Luke replied.

“Elizabeth, go back to the house. Now.” Cole said his face red.

Before I could say or do anything Luke spoke up, “she’s not your pet.”

“She is mine.”he said back, I was starting to get really nervous. Luke held me tighter.

“Elizabeth, I said go back to the house,” Cole spoke to me again, his eyes no longer the familiar brown but instead a dark black.

“No,” I said very quietly.

“What was that?” Cole said pushing Luke away from me.

“I’m going.” I said with my head down in defeat.

“That’s what I thought.” he said as he turned towards Luke. Luke looked hurt but, I couldn’t deal with all of this.

I walked home and couldn’t help but think about what the guys were doing. As I got close to the house I saw two unfamiliar cars in the drive. As I got closer I saw Beau, Jai, and a couple of other guys in the gang. They were all talking to Dana, Gabe and David. I walked up the driveway trying not to get noticed. I almost made it to the door when Dana called my name.

“Elizabeth. Come here.” he said a lot more stern than his normal voice. I walked down the steps and made my way to the group of guys in the driveway.

“Have you seen Cole?” Gabe asked. I slowly nodded my head.

“Was he anywhere near Luke?” Beau asked. I just bit my lip and nodded my head again. They all ran to the cars while Dana told me to go inside and lock the doors.

I did what he told me to do not wanting to screw anything else up. I went up to my room and fell on the bed. All I could think to do was cry.

Cole’s POV

After Elizabeth left I faced Luke. 

“I told you if you ever got near her again that I would kill you.” I reminded him

“I’d like to see you try.” he challenged me. I never backed down from a challenge so I threw a punch at him. ONe thing happened after another and next thing I know, I was being pulled off of Luke.

“We are going home today.” Dana said as he shoved me into a car. We went back to Todrick’s and Elizabeth came down and unlocked the door. She never said a word to me, just whispered into Dana’s ear. I went upstairs to pack my stuff and then a necklace was thrown at me. It was Elizabeth’s necklace I gave her when I asked her out. After I finished packing I went downstairs and everyone was sitting on the couch. Elizabeth was sitting on Dana’s lap and he was running his fingers through her hair. I sat down on the couch in between Will and Gabe. A couple minutes later Elizabeth’s phone went off. She looked down at it and showed Dana then they got up and left. All I could do was put my head in my hands and cry.

Elizabeth’s POV

I was sitting in Dana’s lap when my phone went off. I checked it to see a text:

From:Unknown Number

Hey it’s Jai. Luke wants to see you.

I showed Dana the message and didn’t say anything because I didn’t want Cole to get any more upset. I got out of Dana’s lap and we went to the car. The drive to the hospital was silent. We got there and before I could walk to the receptionist desk Beau walked up to me.

“He’s this way.” he told me as we started walking down a hallway. When I got to the door everyone was watching me. I felt hated. I walked into the room and the only people in there was Jai, Luke, and the doctor. The doctor walked out just as I sat down and Jai followed shortly after.

“I’m sorry Luke this is all my fault.”I cried.

“No it’s not. None of this is your fault.” he said as he wrapped his arms around me. 

“Yes it is, if you wouldn’t have met me then-” he cut me off by saying, “I never would’ve found love.” I started blushing at what he said.

“So, what did the doctor say?” I asked trying to change the subject.

“Just a broken bone or two.”

“That’s good,” I said moving my hair out of my face.

“Yeah, why are you so dressed up, you know you didn’t have to dress up for me.” he said laughing but his laughter soon went away when he saw my smile drop from my face.

“You’re leaving today aren’t you?” he asked.

“Yeah, in an hour.” I said.

“I’m gonna miss you.” Luke said hugging me tight.

“I’ll miss you too.” I said putting my head on his shoulders. Luke gave me a small peck on the lips and then smiled at me.

“I should probably go I have a feeling I’m not wanted here.” I said referring to the guys.

“They are just mad in general.”
