I wish...

"Sarah, look how happy he looks." I frown.
"He would be happier if he was with you." I heard her mumble.

I stared at Shawn as he laughed at something his girlfriend said. Her name was Natalie. She is the definition of perfect. Her skin is flawless, she's super nice and really pretty, and smart and athletic. Basically everything I wish I was.

"We need to break them up.
My mouth opened slightly.

"We can't do that, Sarah!"
"Yes, we can."
"Yeah, but Natalie is actually a super nice person. I'm not going to do anything to jeopardize their relationship."
"Chill out. We're not gonna actually do anything. I know this guy from my old school who every girl loves. We'll make her fall for him."
"I-I don't know, S."

"It'll be fine." she smiled, putting her earbuds in.
I sighed.

I've basically been in love with Shawn for the past two years. Everytime I see him, my heart decides to do these weird things and my cheeks decide to become an oven.

"I'll send him a text."
I bit my lip and nodded.

"Wait, Sarah, we can't. Please don't do it."
"You sure?"
I nodded.

The bell rang and Sarah and I ran out of the classroom.

"Hey, Sarah! Y/n!" We heard someone call.

We stopped walking, and stood by the lockers. Turning around, I saw Shawn and Natalie approaching us.

"Hey." Shawn smiled.
Natalie smiled.
"Hey." we said.

"So, Natalie and I were thinking about going on a date with the other guys too, but they don't have a girlfriend, except for Colby. We think you'd guys would like our other friends, Michael and Jake. Do you guys wanna come?" he asked.

My heart began hurting as I glanced at their intertwined hands.

I look at Sarah.

Please say no. Please say no.

"Can we think about it?" Sarah asked.
"Yeah, of course," Natalie said. "If you guys decide to come, just send me a snap." she smiled.
"Mmhm, thanks." I smiled.

"We'll see you guys later."
"Bye."

We turned around, continuing to walk back to my house.

"We are not going." I say to Sarah.
"C'mon. Let's have some fun."
"But I can't-"
"Yes, you can. It'll be fun. Plus, you may fall for someone else." she said, winking.

"Absoultely not." I shook my head.

She pouted.

"Fine." I mumbled.
"What was that?" she smiled.
"Fine."
"Yay! I'll send her a snap then."

"Hey, thanks again, guys." Shawn said, sitting down across from Natalie.

Ashley, Colby's girlfriend, was sitting next to Natalie and Sarah was sitting next to her. I sat next to Sarah.

"Yeah, of course." Sarah smiled. I gave him a small smile.

Colby, Michael, and Jake sat down next to Shawn.

"Hey, I'm Jake." he said, sitting down.
"Hey." I smiled at him.

I glanced at Sarah. She gave me a smile.

The date passed by quickly. Soon enough, it was time to go home.

"I had a great time." Jake said to me, smiling.
"I did too. Thank you."

"Maybe we can hangout some other time?"
"Yeah, maybe." I smile.

I glanced at Shawn. He was-is so happy with Natalie. He deserves her. He deserves to feel love and be happy. As much as it hurts me, they're perfect together. I wish Shawn and I could have a happy ending, but happy endings don't exist in our story.
