"Do you still like her?" my friend, Nate asked.
I nodded.

"Well, since hoco is coming up, why don't you ask her?"
"She's already going with her friend. Plus, I don't want to just go to homecoming with her, I want to go on a date with her."
"I mean you guys are always flirting."

"That doesn't mean anything. She could just be friendly."
"Mm, I guess, but I think she may have feelings for you."
I sighed.

"I don't know, man."

"That's why you should tell her."
"Easy for you to say when you already have a girlfriend."
"But I had to tell her how I felt to actually be with her now."
"I guess, but I don't want to ruin what we have."

"Just think about telling her, okay? I always see you staring at her and smiling like an idiot when she talks with us."
I nodded.

"Alright, I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow."

-------

Later that day, I was walking home when I saw her walking with her friend.

"Hey y/n! Wait up!" I yelled.
She turned around and said something to her friend. She stopped walking and waited for me.

"Hi." I smiled.
"Hey, did you need something?"
"Oh, um, well, this might be a lot to take in, but I-I can't stop thinking about you, in the least creepiest way." I chuckled seeing her laugh. "But, um, I l-like you, y/n, and I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime?"
She kept a smile on her face, only this time her eyes were filled with guilt.

"Listen, Shawn, you're so so sweet, and anyone would be lucky to have you, but I just don't feel the same. I'm sorry."
"Oh, um, okay, that's okay. Don't worry about it," I gave her a small smile. "Thanks for talking with me. I'll see later in class."

I began walking away, feeling my heartbeat in my throat.
