Bermuda Triangle

It was one of those amazingly warm days when the captain announced to the passengers that they were close to the Bermuda Triangle. In fact, they were the closest they would get during their journey. Amber and Jade were thrilled by the fact that the mystery was so close to them that they could feel its pull in their hearts. They both loved mysterious and supernatural things and were both happy and sad that they wouldn't actually enter the Bermuda Triangle. Happy, because they felt safer not entering it because of the many strange things that have happened there. They were also sad because they were eager to solve the mystery that no one was able to solve before, but they wouldn't get the chance. They were so absorbed in their debate about the possible explanations of the mystery that they didn't even notice the change in the weather. It wasn't until they started feeling large raindrops on their skin that they snapped out of their conversation and looked up at the sky.

The change was so great that they couldn't comprehend it at first. The perfectly blue sky suddenly became dark and gloomy. Mild weather changed so quickly that they thought it almost impossible. The sky was crowded with black and gray clouds. They were so close to the sea that it seemed to them as if they might fall into the sea at any minute. The sea itself became extremely restless. The waves started shaking the ship, gently at first, but then they started getting stronger. That is when one crew member hurried to them and told them they had to go to their cabins since the deck wasn't a good place to be when the waves were that high. As they hurried back to their cabins they could hear the howling wind and the crew members shouting and preparing for the storm. Jade never did fully understand the saying 'the calm before the storm' until that moment. One moment the weather was perfect, the next it was the worst weather she had ever seen. She found comfort in the fact that she was in a much better condition than Amber. Amber's anti-nausea pills didn't seem to have any effect under the given circumstances, so she was very sick and pale. She was so sick that she could barely hold her head up. Also, she spent most of the time since the storm started in the bathroom, violently vomiting. They were very scared but still, they thought that they might be overreacting due to their inexperience at sea.

The true terror started settling in when they were told to prepare to abandon ship since it was badly damaged in the tempest. They quickly put on their warmest clothes and some essentials since they were not allowed to bring many things with them. As they tried to run to the lifeboats, the ship swayed so violently that they crashed into the opposite side of the wall like ping pong balls. Nevertheless, they managed to scramble up quickly and rushed towards the lifeboats. For some reason, the theme song of Titanic kept running in Amber's mind on repeat. She wasn't sure why probably it was her brain's strange way to deal with the stressful situation. When they arrived there they were informed that the two of them would have to settle for a much smaller two-person life raft since the others were already occupied. Although this seemed very strange to them, they had never heard of a two-person life raft, they kept quiet.

They were too rattled by the situation to worry about such small details. They were handed life jackets and quick explanations were given to them. The gist of it was that they had survival assistance aids in the life raft and that they should sit tight, hold on, and pray to survive the angry sea. Terrified as they were they still managed to remember all the instructions, and they settled into their life rafts successfully. Then they were lowered down and put to the mercy of the roaring sea. The waves bashed strongly against their life rafts, but they held on tightly. They were very pale and their eyes were wide open from fear but their hands never wavered. The sea continued to test their strength by flying them up in the air then down. When it went down it looked as if the sea wanted to swallow them up, never to been seen again. Up, down, up down, went on the vicious game the sea was playing on them.
