After Ci Nada launched the attack at Avo Jana, the battle started in full effect.
Amber didn't even know how to fight or who she was fighting against, but she knew she had to fight if she wanted to survive if she wanted her friends to survive.
Although she was never much of a fighter she was not ready to just give up, she decided to do her best to defend herself and her friends. She was scared. Well, scared is an understatement, she was terrified.
Not only of the battle, but she was also scared of herself.
After all, the fire did shoot out of her hands.
What did that make her?
She didn't have a lot of time or energy to think about it, though, because she was too busy dodging attacks.
The mixture of fear and anger that she was feeling actually seemed to be helping.
It helped her to channel her new-found powers and fight using them.
That was excellent news for her because when it came to hand-to-hand combat she was awful at it.
She had no training whatsoever and all she knew about it was what she learned from the movies.
All she could do was basic self-defense, and she felt like that would only work with one attacker.
Gouging, poking, or scratching the attacker's eyes with her fingers was something she could do, but in the case of the magical beings if they were close enough for her to do that, then she was probably already too late.
Maybe she could also kick them in the groin if they had any.
They were after all strange beings and most of the humanoid ones were females.
She cursed her bad luck that she couldn't use the two things she did know how to do.
Luckily with every creature which tried to attack her, her firepower seemed to be more controlled, a part of her, a tool she could use to protect herself.
Although she was terrified of the new power residing in her, she didn't question it.
She locked up all the questions that were not pertinent for her survival into a little box and put it at the back of her mind.
Surprisingly enough, she was doing fairly well defending herself, much better than she expected.
That was when she heard it again, the voice from that dark place, her nightmare.
"You didn't want to stay and play with me, so I came to play with you." The creepy voice of a small child said.
When she looked up to the source of the voice what she saw left me speechless and fireless.
It was a humanoid shape, but its facial features were anything but human.
Huge mouth full of sharp teeth, wide open, was the first thing to draw her attention.
The rest of its body was completely black without any details.
It was made of dark fog that was trying to replicate human form.
Its face was illuminated, so she could see the sharp teeth clearly, they were gray, but still clearly visible.
As she raised her eyes to look above its huge mouth, she could see a black hole where its nose should have been.
As she lifted her gaze further up she could finally see what was making the face visible, it's the eyes.
"Oh, my God it's the eyes." She thought horrified.
They were sunken in the black sockets but that didn't stop them from burning with a strong orange glow that illuminated its whole terrifying face.
But it wasn't until she looked it directly in the eyes that she became truly paralyzed.
All her fears and phobias had found one place to reside in.
Its eyes.
Faced with her worst nightmares and fears she was unable to do anything but stare.
That was when it attacked her.
She felt its sharp claws dig into her skin ripping it apart in one precise movement that knocked her to the ground.
Warm blood trickled down her body while the pain, greater than anything she had ever felt before slashed through her, devouring her.
She wanted to scream and ask for help, but she had no strength for that.
She fell down to the ground waiting for the final blow to come, but it never did.
As she tried to focus her tired eyes, she could see why.
Arijam Protector Of The Weak, her favorite dragon, had gotten the creature in his mouth trying to tear it apart. Before the dragon had the chance to finish it off, the shape disappeared.
It left the Shadow world, the battle, everything, like a coward that it was.
Arijam Protector Of The Weak had saved her life, but at the moment there was no time for thank yous only for battle.
As she was trying to rise to her feet and rejoin the battle she noticed that not only was she scratched, but she also hit her head pretty hard when she fell.
"Is this how it all ends? After all the wonders I have seen is this how I die?' Amber thought as the head-splitting pain went through her head. It seemed to her that the pain radiated through her whole body. As she tried to get up and join the raging battle she could feel her hands were sticky and wet. To her horror, she realized by the metallic scent that assaulted her nose that it was blood. Blood that was pouring out of her own body from a wound she couldn't clearly see. She was trying to breathe deeply and get her bearings thinking to herself.: "This is NOT HOW I die! I refuse to die! I refuse to die after everything we had gone through! No, I WILL NOT die! I will live and enjoy life again!"
As she slowly got up, she could see that the fighting was still unfolding. She could see the others fighting with all their might but was it enough? She could see Jade in the distance, her blond hair was matted in blood and it terrified her. Amber could see that Jade was wounded, as well. She was limping on her left leg, and she was covered in blood. Whose blood was it? Amber wasn't sure but there was a lot of it. Hoping it wasn't Jade's blood Amber got up and rejoined the fight. Her gaze kept wandering around trying to find him, but she couldn't. The only thing she could think was: "If that arrogant idiot of mine dies on me I will kill him."
