As they were left alone with Telet, Jade was unsure of what she could expect. The fairy queen had been kind to them but also very cryptic so she was unsure what to expect this time.
Needing reassurance, she gently squeezed Royce's hand, and when he returned the pressure, Jade felt ready for anything. Even if there was a battle to be fought, she was ready to do it.
As long as she had her friends by her side, and more importantly, Royce, Jade knew that she could face any challenge and come out as a victor.
"When we first met, I told you about the prophecy that foretold your coming, but I never explained in detail what it all meant. That is partly because with prophecies, one is never sure and partly because there were many things you needed to uncover on your own." Telet said.
They all nodded their heads in agreement because there were many changes in them, in their behavior, even in their personality. There was no doubt about it. They had become better people since the first moment they stepped on the island.
"I told you that no one could hurt you on this island, and although you might doubt it, no one has hurt you on the island," Telet said.
"What do you mean? I almost died!" Royce said.
"Yes, that is true, but that wasn't happening on the island. It was happening in the dream world, a world that is neither here nor there, a world between worlds, if you will.
You see, Ci Nada had found a loophole. The Island Treaty doesn't allow anyone to hurt another being on the island, but her attacks were never truly on the island, they were in worlds that are in between. Now, that we are aware of that problem we can fix it." Telet said.
"Happy to risk our lives to improve your laws." Ignacio couldn't help saying.
"Ignacio!" Amber said in a warning tone.
"That's quite alright. He is right. You did help. We helped each other to become better than we were." Telet said.
"I don't understand. How exactly did we help? We were the ones who constantly needed saving." Jade asked.
"You helped us by making us aware of the flaws in our system, by reminding us that although we are magical beings we are not perfect and we have to constantly have that in mind if we want to improve. But more importantly, you brought our sister back to us." Telet said.
"How did we do that?" Jade asked.
"Had it not been for you, she would have still been hidden in her little world of hate and misery instead she came to the light and saw the error of her ways," Telet said.
"By almost killing us." Ignacio pointed out.
"That is true, but life is a perilous journey. The challenges that we face make us stronger. Although her actions were terrible, Ci Nada did help you become the best versions of yourselves in her strange way." Telet said.
Although Jade didn't want to admit it, she could see Telet's point. If they hadn't been faced with diversity, the positive change in them might have taken much longer to manifest itself, maybe never. Still, it was a strange way to look at things.
"Okay, let's say we believe that. You told us we were Saviors of the Worlds, but we haven't saved any worlds. What happens now?" Amber asked.
"I don't presume to understand the prophecies fully, but as far as I am concerned I think you have already saved the worlds, your worlds, and this wonderful world on Ynit Sed that we are trying to preserve, or as the people in your land would call it Destiny Island," Telet said.
"So, there will be no worlds to save? No dangerous missions to go on?" Royce asked.
He was looking at Jade when he said that, and it was obvious that his main concern was her safety.
"That is a question to which I do not know the answer. Prophecies are as vague and as specific as they need to be, and I cannot say I know the full truth behind them, no one can." Telet said.
"What does that mean for us? I mean, the elves showed us the heart of the island, as well as the darkness that is corrupting it. Don't we need to fight to stop that from happening?" Amber asked.
"The heart of the island was being corrupted by the darkness, but not only did you stop it from spreading, but it also started retreating. As of right now, the heart of the island is back to its former glory, perfectly balanced." Telet said.
"How is that even possible when we didn't do anything?" Ignacio asked, confused.
"My dear humans no matter what powers you managed to develop, you will never be fully able to understand our magical world because you look at everything from the human perspective. In your world changes are only made by great upheaval, terrible deaths, and suffering, and you can't see another way." Telet said.
"What is the other way?" Amber asked.
"You helped us restore balance by your very actions. You purified your hearts, thus bringing more goodness to the island. Not only that, but you also brought Ci Nada to the right path and chose forgiveness instead of revenge. In our world, that is worth a lot. Those are the things that make or break the balance." Telet said.
"Could we have made it worse on the island, only by our actions?" Jade asked.
"Absolutely. Had you chosen revenge, had you refused to change, more darkness would wash over the island, and the balance would be forever lost. This way, you brought it back to where it should be, and you brought us to hope that we could keep that perfect balance between the light and dark." Telet said.
"What do you mean? There will be more problems?" Amber asked worriedly.
"Ah, my dear. Life is full of challenges. Although you have brought us to balance, for the time being, balance is a fickle thing, especially in a place of magic. The scales can tip any moment to one side or the other. We can never know for sure." Telet said.
"Than what do we do now?"Amber asked, annoyed.
"That is what I wanted to talk to you about. You have a choice to make, and it is one that no one can make for you. You can choose to stay here or go back home." Telet said.
"I thought we couldn't go back home?" Royce asked.
"Not with all the knowledge you possess. We would have to wipe your memory. However, in your heart of hearts, you would still keep all the lessons you have learned." Telet said.
"But if we don't go back, we won't see our families ever again!" Royce said.
"You would be able to visit from time to time, but they wouldn't remember the visit just the feeling that they were with you and that you were okay," Telet said.
Jade and Amber looked at each other in wonder. They loved their family, and the thought of leaving them behind seemed unfathomable and yet again it felt like there was so much more that they could learn on the island. It was a tough call to make.
"I know it's a difficult decision to make. Why don't you think about it and let me know?" Telet said.
"Okay, that sounds good," Amber replied, being the only one who could find her voice.
