As Telet left them alone, they were all lost, unsure what their next action should be. There were so many things to consider. No matter how much they liked it on the island and how much they had yet to learn, they couldn't just leave their families behind.
Besides, staying on the island would mean having to adjust to a completely different style of life, to a different set of customs, different cultures. It would be a challenge that they would have to face as the outsiders that they truly were.
Amber thought it ridiculous that her dream of having magic had come true, and yet she was not as carefree or happy as she thought she might be. She was torn. If she went back home, she would have to give up all her magic, and that was a difficult thing to do.
Yet, giving up on her family was unimaginable, they were part of who she was. Their presence has shaped her to who she was, for better or worse, and she loved them immensely, but many people who moved to other countries were separated from their parents and that was okay so she couldn't help but wonder if their current situation was any different.
"What should we do?" Jade was the first one to break the heavy silence that hung in the air.
"I don't know. There are so many different things to consider. If you asked me when we first got here, I would have said we should go back, but after everything that has happened, I am not sure if that would be the best thing for us." Amber said.
"We can't just abandon people we left behind, let them think that we are dead. That would be too cruel." Ignacio said.
"I agree with Ignacio, they need to know that we are okay," Royce said.
"Telet said that we would be able to visit with them remembering, but they will still know that we are okay," Amber said.
"I don't know," Ignacio said.
"I guess it would be helpful to answer one important question. Are we ready to give up what we have found on this island? Are we ready to give up its beauty? The powers that we have found here?" Amber asked.
"No." they answered in unison.
"Hm, well I guess that answers the question for us. If we are not ready to leave yet, maybe we can stay here with the option of going back whenever we need to, with them forgetting all about us, of course, but with a possibility to change our minds one day." Ignacio said.
"Well, that does make sense," Amber said as she took his hand in hers.
"Very well, then we all agree. We shall stay here for now and see how it goes." Royce asked.
"Yes, that sounds good, but where exactly shall we stay? The island is so big, and we have spent most of our time traveling. Where should we stay?" Jade asked, thinking of the practical side of it.
"Well, I was thinking we could stay in the village of the witches, for starters. I think our powers are similar to those of a witch, and that is where we would be able to further develop our powers." Amber said.
"How do we know that is the right choice?" Jade asked.
"We don't, but we can always change our minds. Nothing is written in stone." Amber said.
With that in mind, they called back Telet asking her if it was possible to do so. They were happy to learn that their way didn't contradict what the inhabitants of the island had to do to protect themselves.
"You have made a wise decision. It is always easy to go back to the safety of what you know, but facing the unknown and the challenges it might present can be a transformative experience as you have all noticed." Telet said.
"Yes, but I don't know how to deal with the practicalities of it all. Like where do we get a house, a job...How do we contribute to the community?" Ignacio asked.
"Well, I cannot tell you what to do, but one thing I would advise is to continue training with your chosen teachers. You might not need to use your powers anytime soon, but it would be better for you to be able to do so if the opportunity arises." Telet said.
"That sounds reasonable enough, but what about the rest of it?" Amber asked.
"You will note that the magical community is much more helpful than the human ones, everything that you might ask for shall be provided to you, within the limits of course. After all, you are the heroes of the island. You helped us see our imperfections, and that is the first step to fixing them." Telet said.
"We appreciate all your help and advice. I think it's time we try to find a way for us to join this community properly." Amber said.
"How does the witch village sound to you guys?" Amber asked.
"Sounds great to me. I love the library they have in there. I might check if they have any job openings for me." Jade said.
"Well, it sounds like an interesting place to check out, I guess every village needs a healer so that could be my way to help out," Royce said in contemplation.
"Wherever you go, I go with you, but I am not sure what job I could do there. I was never particularly good at anything, and I don't think that my powers would be that helpful in everyday life." Ignacio said.
"I was thinking you could work with individuals who have anger control issues, to help them overcome them. I've noticed that there are many teenagers on this island, and let's face it they need help controlling their anger in any world." Amber said.
"That sounds like a good idea. I just hope I would be able to help." Ignacio said.
"You will trust me. Unlike everyone else, you know exactly what they are going through, and that will help you get their attention. They will listen to you." Amber said.
"What about you?" Ignacio asked.
"I was thinking about working in a store, selling potions, cauldrons, and other supplies that every witch needs. I think I might have a knack for it. I felt a connection with that type of store when I was in the village. I think it's my calling." Amber said.
"What about a place to live?" Jade asked.
"I might be able to help with that," Telet said.
Having been so silent during the whole conversation they forgot she was even there so her comment startled them. Still, they gestured for her to go on.
"My friend is moving to another part of the island and will be needing someone to take care of her house while she is away. However, it is a huge house, designed for at least four people to live in, so I am not sure if that suits you if you all want to live together. Though the house is so big that it will feel like two separate houses." Telet said.
"No, no, that won't be a problem. That sounds perfect for us to adjust to the new life." Amber said.
As she said that, she looked at every one of them looking for confirmation. Since they all nodded their heads in agreement the matter was settled.
That was how their new life, on Destiny Island, began.
