Destiny Island

Chapter 21

Dark fairy Ci Nada 

As they kept approaching the source of light, they started to wonder if it was actually a good thing. Although we all crave the light there was something strange about the light they were going towards, something was definitely off. They couldn't fully comprehend what was wrong, but they could feel it deep in their bones. Still, they had no choice but to go on since there was no turning back. Soon enough, they were able to see an ominous looking castle. It didn't really look like the castles they were familiar with because it was black and it seemed to be made of some type of dark ice. They had no idea how that was possible, but since they were shipwrecked on the island they learned not to question what they saw. The shape of the castle was similar to the one of the medieval castles they were familiar with, but the black ice made it look very sinister. Around the castle, there were bright artificial lights whose main purpose seemed to be to expose the castle as what it really was, a scary construction that they somehow managed to make even gloomier. The more they approached the castle, the higher the temperature got, which made no sense since they were approaching an ice castle but on the other side, anything seemed to be possible on the magical island.

Suddenly they could hear a booming female voice that seemed to be coming from everywhere at the same time: "Who dares trespass in my kingdom!?" Ignacio and Amber had no idea how to answer the question because saying their names didn't seem appropriate, and they had no idea how else to identify themselves. "We are humans visiting the island. Sorry for bothering you, but we had no intention of trespassing, we got lost. " The moment he said that a peal of shrill laughter filled the surrounding area. " Awww a big strong guy, like yourself, and you managed to get lost. Not only that, but you dragged your little pet with you as well." The voice said mockingly. The moment she said that Ignacio got really mad. His whole face turned red and his hands made tight fists by his side as he said: "Show your self, you coward! How dare you speak with us in that way! Who do you think you are?!" "I am the queen of this place, you worthless human. " The voice said. At that moment a very tall person with long hair appeared in front of them. The hair was the color of burning fire, and she had small black eyes which seemed huge when they looked at them. It was because they had the power to make them see all of their fears materializing in front of their very eyes. She kept her powers at a minimum, but what they saw was enough for them to take a few steps away from her.

She wore a tight black dress which reached her knees, and she wore combat boots, but somehow they didn't seem to be in contrast with the dress. Amber wasn't sure if it was because she used some kind of magic or not. What especially caught Ignacio's attention was a pair of razor-sharp wings, two on each side which reminded him of blades and of course, the wings were jet black. They didn't seem like the gentle wings of the fairies they had seen before, but they had small black feathers interwoven together. On her head, she wore a tall crown made of black ice. As she walked towards them they noticed that she had a strong and sturdy walk that was a bit intimidating, even for Ignacio. But he tried to hide that by standing strong as she approached. "Have you come to challenge me?!" She yelled while flicking her hair back. Amber felt a strand of the woman's hair make a small slash across her face, it was that sharp. At first, she thought she imagined it, but as she ran her fingers down her cheek she could feel the cut. Instead of saying anything about it, she decided to try to calm the situation down since she could see how furious Ignacio truly was. She didn't know him well enough to judge how far he would go in his anger, so she decided to take control of the situation before he had the chance to do something stupid.

"No, of course not, your majesty," Amber said as humbly as she could while subtly giving Ignacio the sign to let her speak. Surprisingly enough he stayed quiet. "We are just ignorant humans who got shipwrecked on this island and now managed to enter your kingdom by accident. Although your kingdom is wonderful we are more interested in living above the ground, so you have nothing to worry from us. We are just passing through. " She said trying to sound genuine and meek at the same time which was quite a challenge. In general, she was not a meek person and it took all her acting abilities to make herself sound inferior. She did it because she had a feeling that it would be a good thing to say to a queen as powerful as the one in front of her seemed to be. "I believe you. This one I don't trust." The queen said as she pointed towards Ignacio. "However, if you vouch for him I shall not execute him." "Yes, yes I vouch for him, your majesty," Amber said quickly, afraid that any hesitation would lead to Ignacio's immediate execution. "Very well then. I am Ci Nada, the dark fairy. And you are?" the queen asked. "I am Amber and this is Ignacio," Amber said as she curtsied clumsily. Ignacio stayed upright, but after she gave him a slight push he bowed in Ci Nada's direction. "Very well, then I shall respect the Law and offer you assistance, although I do it under protest."  Ci Nada said.
