"Mommy? Is that you?" She woke up to screaming in the other room. Poor, young little Lena had no idea what was going on, and could only have her little legs lead her to the voices."Mommy? Daddy? What's wrong? Where are you?" She stared at her parents as they didn't move; didn't hear or listen to her.Someone walked around the bed, "What are you doing here, Lena?" It was her older brother, Ayatu. He hid something behind his back, but Lena didn't take any notice of it.
"Mommy was screaming.. Is she okay?" The darkness made it difficult for Lena to see anything.
"There's nothing wrong with her, shes sleeping. It must've been your imagination. Why don't you go to sleep?" He spoke in with care, a brotherly voice.
"Okay, Goodnight big bro."
"Goodnight, Little sis."
Present Time, Third person POV
Lena jolted awake in a cold sweat, panting for air. This isn't new for her, these nightmares have been reoccurring for years now. That one was one of the many, but although short and simple, the frightening fact that that night was what started this entire hell that she has to call reality.
She shook off what happened and took a shower, 'It was just a nightmare, Lena. You won't see him again, he's gone. You've started a new life.' Those were always her thoughts after the nightmares. The sentence stayed in her mind all while she showered.
It was five years since she escaped him. It's been five years since she was living with him, about one year since she has been living alone, getting ready for school alone, eating, cleaning, cooking alone. It could get lonely, but she is surrounded by love. The love of her two best friends, Kirishima and Mina, and the love of their families as well. As her parents we're known worldwide as amazing heroes, she has her parents friends too. Specially Shota Aizawa, who seem to have taken the parent role of Lena, although having to deal with the business of a hero. He visits her often and gives her money when she needs it, though she never would ask.
She made herself some breakfast and sat down on the couch. She didn't bother to sit at the lonely table of one.
She got a text from Mina, reminding her that she made plans with her and Kirishima. They were for lunch at 2:00pm, giving her hours to wait. She did house work that she did every weekend, and spent some time on a painting she's been working on.
She decided to leave early. She wanted to stop by the arcade to check a little something. So she went, and sure enough, she was right to check.
Over in the corner at some fighting game that could either be Player Vs Player or killstreak, she saw that on the leader board, her number one spot was taken.
Again.
Once again, whoever KingExplosionMurder was, took over the first place, booting her to second. This mysterious person held third, and she held fourth. The pattern continued for the entire 20 spots the board shows. It looked like they we're the only two to play the game, and maybe that was true. She never sees anyone else play.
But back to that number one spot. She likes to consider it a little game. The longest she has ever kept that number one spot, to her knowledge, was five days. The score is only growing, and Lena wonders how long its going to be before the spot is untouchable because the score is so high. She doesn't think anything of it, but Kirishima and Mina won't ever shut up about how they're soulmates.
She put a quarter in and started playing. After multiple tries she finally beats his score and could confidently walk away from the game she just spent another two dollars on.
On her way out, she almost collided with an boy around her age. Ash blond hair that seemed spikey was what she thought she would know him by, but his rough voice laced with anger and hatred while he told her to move, and refer to her as an extra was what she would soon be referring to when she talks to her friends.
Inside the store she heard him scream, "That fucking bitch!" And could only wonder for the entire walk to the restaurant how hot headed and disrespectful this boy could be to scream such words out loud in a public place.
Checking her phone, she smiled when she saw that she was right on time, and made her way inside the restaurant. Mina was already there, and interrupted the hostess while she talked to Lena to excitedly bring her over to the booth.
Kirishima followed in shortly after. "Sorry i'm late guys! That was so not manly of me."
"Don't sweat it dude, I just got here." Lena responded.
"Ahhh babes I haven't seen you guys in forever! I missed you two so much!" Mina squealed with happiness.
They talked for what seems like minutes, although fifteen went by before they were given the food they ordered. They broke out of their conversation by a smooth voice of the waiter, who was actually a topic of one of their many conversations. None of them could deny the fact that he was very attractive. The lightening bolt in his hair was certainly interesting, but they couldn't complain.
"I've got your food, here you go, gorgeous." The waiter didn't exactly state who that compliment was directed to, but his gaze stayed on Kirishima. The three of them fawned, Lena being the least affected.
Once he left, they just had to talk about that compliment. "Ahhh Ei! That guy was totally hitting on you!" Lena pointed out the obvious.
"I'm so jealous of you Ei!" Mina said while faking a sad look. "Why is it with two gorgeous girls like Lena and I, Eijirou is always the one getting hit on?" They laughed in agreement. Whether male, female or non-binary, Kirishima was definitely the most popular one.
Once another conversation ended, Lena decided to start another. One about her little game rival.
"Oh, did you play with your secret arcade lover?" Eijirou teased.
"If you wanna call them that. Yes, but that's not what I was gonna say."
"If you guys ever decided to meet you'd totally be soulmates!" Mina said excitedly.
"That's not the only thing that happened. After I was leaving, some guy almost bumped into ME and had the audacity to tell me to move and call me some nickname he probably thinks is insulting." She scoffs, pissed off just thinking about him.
But she made the mistake of ever including the gender to her boy crazy best friends, because instead of talking about the rudeness of that man like she wanted to, questions about him rolled in instead.
Instead of answer the absurd questions, she just continued with her point. "And then I heard him fucking scream and call someone a bitch. Like?! How could one man be so fucking rude."
"You definitely think he's hot though. Maybe you guys are meant to be."
"So you heard his voice? On a scale of 1-10, how attractive was it?"
"I cannot fucking deal with you two." She laughed. They talked over their food for an hour more before deciding to head out and split. Kirishima handled the bill this time, and was almost brave enough to leave his number on the receipt, but backed out last minute.
"Bye guys!" Mina chirped.
"Bye, loves."
Lena smirked, remembering when she will see them next. The exams were tomorrow, and all three of them were jittery with excitement, but only two of them were nervous. Lena knew she had this in the bag.
"Bye, losers. I guess the next time we will see each other will be at our entrance exams."
