Chapter Eight: Who's Elise?

First day of senior year today.

Peter and I had spent the past few days getting to know each other and I was really enjoying it.

He showed me some of the towns major hot spots and took me out for lunch a couple of times.

Today, he was going to be driving me to school and said that I could stick with him and his friends until I could be on my own.

Since I was an attractive young female, he said and I quote "Some of the guys will only talk to you for sex,".

As my host brother, Holly told him to watch out for me like an older brother would.

Funny thing was my older brother would never do anything for me even if I begged him.

I currently sat downstairs scarfing down a piece of bacon while Peter drank an orange juice.

"Don't forget to get your schedule at the main office," He reminded me, setting the cup in the sink.

"Will you be coming with me?" I asked, handing him the glass plate.

"Do you know where the office is?"

I blinked once, unsure of how this conversation was going to turn out.

"No?" I mumbled, slouching in the chair.

"Then there's your answer," Peter snorted, rushing past me to grab his backpack.

I shuffled behind him, feeling oddly nervous about going to public school.

I've only ever been homeschooled so the environment was bound to be different and so were the people.

"Come on turbo were going to be late if you take any longer," He teased, opening the door and heading to the small red Ford Torus.

I huffed and ran to the passenger's side as he started the car, sliding into the tan leather seat.

Once I was all buckled in, Peter took off and sped down the street.

I really hoped that he would look out for me at school, and walk me to my classes.

It wasn't like I couldn't watch out for myself, because I knew self-defense and I was a grade A bitch.

Getting close to Peter made me feel co-dependent all of a sudden, and I wasn't digging it.

The plan was and still is to seduce/pursue him.

"You okay there?" I hear him ask.

"Mhm," I respond, giving the guy a quick smile.

He nods once and then starts to press the pedal down more.

"You just seemed lost in thought and looked stressed," He chuckles.

I stare down at my hands and begin to push back the cuticles a little trying to control my uneven breathing.

Here come the hiccups.

"I guess I'm just a little nervous," I laugh.

Peter puts his right hand on top of my folded ones and squeezes them.

Bold gesture for a shy guy.

"You'll be fine," He tells me, taking his hand away.

Now I felt cold.

The car pulled into the school parking lot that was full of other students and buses.

Jeez.
