Chapter Thirty-Seven: Have you fucked yet?
I decided to wait until the morning before growing a pair and sticking it to Elise but also making amends with Peter and Holly.
Kevin dropped me off at their front door with my baggage resting on the cement step, and then I knocked loudly.
No one answered for about a minute and I started to worry, but then Elise swung the door open.
She glared at me before I heard a voice from a distant room call her.
"Who is it?" Peter shouted.
My heart clenched and I swallowed saliva before watching her face morph from a smirk to a sad frown.
"Oh thank God! She's back, Pete!" Elise cheered, fake tears streaming down her face.
Sure enough, Peter came running to the main entrance, holding onto the walls to stable himself from slipping so much.
My lips were pursed with furrowed brows as I looked up from her wicked grin to see Peter's eye filled with so many different emotions.
None of us said anything, but we did exchange different glances.
I missed you, my eyes told him.
.... - Peter's eyes.
I'm sorry, -my face said.
..... -Peter's reaction.
"Hey, so I found a couple of types of vinyl in an old box that I kept up in the attic if you wanna give them a list-" Holly's voice started, but then she paused after seeing me in the doorway.
"-en," She finished, almost dropping the box.
I licked my lips anxiously, waiting to be let in but nobody would move or speak.
Usually, when I leave a guy or girl speechless it's in a different way but whatever...
"Bailey," Holly breathed out, and Peter cleared his throat.
Elise crossed her arms, leaning closer to his side almost standing on top of his foot.
"We thought you might have left for good," Peter said quietly, staring at the floor.
I raised my brows, sighing loudly before looking around the house and seeing a few packed boxes.
"Yeah so we cleared out your room because I need a place to crash," Elise added, smiling at me but then looking glum at Peter.
"Figured you wouldn't be around for a while, you know with the whole running away thing," She mumbled, rolling her eyes.
"And why would you need somewhere to go?" I quizzed, feeling defensive and crossing my arms.
Peter groaned running a hand over his face.
"Please don't start another pointless fight,"
Holly moved forward, pushing the happy couple out of the way and then set the cardboard box on the ground.
I stared at her trying to read how she was feeling when she abruptly pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.
Surprised at the sudden action I froze before slowly wrapping my arms around her back and blowing out a long breath.
"Don't do that ever again," She whispered into my ear.
I closed my eyes, relieved that her reaction was different than what I had expected.
"Elise if you want to finish unpacking your stuff, that's fine," Holly told her, pulling away from me.
My body tensed, and I felt out of place suddenly.
