Chapter Forty-Four: My life is a lie
So Peter and I stayed up pretty late watching a shit ton of movies, and I didn't regret the low energy I had in the morning.
Somewhere in between the movies we were watching I crashed for a bit on his chest and he played with my hair until I fell asleep.
But then when I began to wake up, I heard Peter and his mom talking off in the distance.
So, as usual, I began to eavesdrop on the conversation because my curiosity had gotten the better of me.
"Were you and Bailey up late?" His mom asked.
Peter scratched the back of his hair and squinted his eyes at Holly before answering with a 'yes' and then crossing his arms.
"I was about to head out and get some groceries, did you want to come with me and let Bailey get some more sleep? Or-"
"Mom we need to talk about something," Peter interrupted sternly.
Holly furrowed her brows and sat her purse down on the counter, moving forward towards him while reaching for his hand but he pulled it away.
"What's this about, Peter?" She asked, frowning a little.
I crawled across the floor to a wall that hid me from being seen, and as I stood to my feet creeping a little to the side so I could watch them it dawned on me that I needed more clothes on.
"I heard you arguing with someone on the phone last night about Bailey and how she can't stay here anymore..." He trailed.
"That she's gonna put me in danger... any of that ring a bell?"
Holly rolled her lips inside her mouth and sucked in a deep breath before pulling a stool out from under the island and sitting on it.
"I know who she really is and I'm aware that you know I know,"
At this point, I was shocked but also felt the need to smack Peter because him giving Holly all this info wasn't helping his case.
The fact that Holly knew who I was this whole time made me a little angry because there were things I could've gone to her about but didn't for the sake of her seeing me as a different person.
"Peter, you don't understand. There is a lot of stuff about Amelia- I mean Bailey... and people who are after her family-"
I stepped into the kitchen causing them both to look my direction and stop talking because my face was a mix between feeling hurt and also angry with a tiny bit of relief.
"Amelia," Peter breathed out.
I held up a hand and started to snort a little because for some reason none of this was really getting to me but at the same time, it was?
"How about Holly tells us the whole story of why I'm actually here? And then maybe I fill Peter in on my home life," I suggested.
They both looked at each other and then Peter shrugged walking slowly towards me reaching for my shoulders and then came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my head.
Awe.
But from there Holly explained to me how I was sent to live with the Kingston's due to my family being hunted down by the assassins who came for my whole bloodline.
However, the part about Peter and I being set up for an arranged marriage was a surprise to both of us.
"I'm sorry what?" I blinked.
