Chapter Forty-Two: all other girls have no hope
I was beyond confused.
Bailey- fuck I mean Amelia has a point.
My relationship with Elise was toxic and could end bad so I should put it to a stop before things get worse.
Then again, how was she any better?
Granted I knew myself enough to know that when it really came down to it, I felt myself lean more towards Amelia.
There was just something about her that made me curious, and I had no idea what it was.
Then she kissed me.
God, was it the best kiss I've ever had compared to the only other girl I've made out with.
Her lips were like the perfect size and so soft, but then it was like happiness was short-lived when she told me she didn't want to be a home wrecker.
I knew what I wanted, and in order to get it, I had to make certain adjustments.
Elise and I had to break up.
I was well aware that it was for sure gonna be messy, but if it meant I didn't have to go about my day with her dragging my mood, then that's what would happen.
So after Amelia left my room saying something about Sydney needing her, I walked over to Elise's door and knocked lightly before opening it.
She was sitting up under Amelia's old sheets and sniffling while tears streamed down her face and I felt myself frown.
"What's wrong?" I asked, entering the room fully.
Elise stayed silent before wiping under her eyes and then slowly meeting my eyes and looking down at her hands.
"Get out,"
Her voice was low and I could tell she was serious, but a part of me told my brain to stay because something was bothering her.
"What happen-" I tried speaking but she cut me off.
"Do you think I enjoy having an addiction?!" She exclaimed, turning her head violently to look at me.
My brows furrowed, and I began to approach her when she held out a hand telling me to stop.
"You stay right there, Peter Kingston," Elise demanded.
Her tone and face were kind of scaring me at this point and I didn't know if her flip had switched.
"I know you like Amelia, and I'm well aware of what happened in your room. I want you to know while it does bother me, I understand why it happened..."
Wait,-
She studied me for a moment before continuing, tucking a chunk of hair behind her ear.
"Your mother wants me gone, I get that, but your cheating is what I can't wrap my head around," She chuckled lightly.
Her eyes held a spark of some emotion I couldn't quite make out when she stood up.
"Believe or not, when I was at my lowest freshman year, I had a crush on you."
Elise crossed her arms taking small steps towards my body until she was standing in front of me, looking up into my eyes.
I could see how puffy her bags were, and the small beads of sweat that formed at her hairline along with the oily skin and dilated pupils told me-
"You were so kind when I had almost OD'd in the hallway, making me throw up and then flipping me onto my side," She smiled, looking at my shoes.
All of a sudden, her arms started swinging punches at my chest that were about as painful as stubbing your toe against the edge of your table.
"WHY! WHY! WHY!" She screamed, her chin creasing from the sob she held back.
Elise kept hitting me until her body was so weak that she slid down to the ground and started crying again.
I knelt beside her, not bothering to comfort her because when she did this it was best to stay back in case of another lash out.
"Am I not good enough?" She asked me with a shaky voice.
I tilted my head, feeling my eyes soften at the heartbreaking question.
Wanting to answer, I knew my explanation wouldn't be enough to build her self worth up from how much it went down these past few years.
She was always gonna doubt herself until things changed for her mentally.
When I didn't answer, she sniffled loudly and wiped her nose.
"I know you came here to break things off with me, and I wanted to thank you for being by my side and helping me," Elise said.
"But I also wanted to let you know that I will ruin yours and Amelia's reputation before you get even a chance at happiness with that slut," She spat.
I winced but nodded.
"Cheaters do not deserve to be happy,"
My lips pursed and I watched her try to glare at me, but then stop because she couldn't stay mad once her rage was let out.
"I'm sorry you feel that way," I told her, standing up and stretching my stiff back.
Elise parted her mouth and then looked back at the nightstand before staring at me.
"Make sure your things are ready for your dad to come to get you tomorrow, since he wants you home for Thanksgiving," I reminded, scratching the back of my neck.
She snorted, playing with the hem of her PJ pants and then shook her head.
I felt the silence build up and began to walk to the door, trying to keep my body parts together before she could rip them out when she spoke.
"Thank you Peter Kingston... for giving me the best yet worst first relationship a girl could ever want,"
My head started to turn around for me to look back at her.
"For you truly are like every other guy, no matter how good you seem," Elise added.
"And that should be taken as an insult, because if you can't stay loyal then all other girls have no hope,"
